Writer's Block: If I could find my way

[Error: unknown template qotd]

Far enough back that I could still do what I liked without ripping the time stream asunder. Not so far back that I would be forced to deal with a lack of indoor plumbing and forced into wearing a corset.

If this question means in my own personal history, on the other hand, I haven't a clue. Maybe somewhere in the 1980's.

Adrienne Palicki will play Wonder Woman in David E. Kelley’s series. I’ve apparently only seen her in an episode of Smallville a while back, so I don’t know if she’s right for the role or not.

PETA has offered to save the Edgar Allan Poe house if they advertise for them.

And I’m continuing this meme:
Comment here and I'll pick 5 of your icons for you to write about.

[profile] magikfanfic picked these five for me:

This one was made by [personal profile] neev back when scans_daily was still hosted on LJ. It’s from an issue of Flash, where Wally needs to tell something to someone, but wants a distraction. It’s been a while since I read the scans in question. From out of the blue, ninjas attack. So he’s glad.

Made by [personal profile] ascendant_angel. This is just Watson checking his blog, from the latest Sherlock series.

[personal profile] amberleewriter made this one. Methos, back in his days as Death on a Horse. Duncan confronting him about that, and his “I was Death!” speech is one of my favorite moments in the series.

Made by [profile] dirkdigital. This is from an episode of MST3K. I believe it was when they were making fun of Hobgoblins.

Made by [personal profile] capedcrusader92. I like this one, because it probably is how Alfred deals with the weirdness of his life.

Adrianne will be AMAZING. She's awesome. And also a comic geek. And she's dating Alan Tudyk.

I wish that I would have gotten more chance to see her acting ability in Lone Star.

I have not yet had a chance to see any of it. :( Lone Star, I mean.

Well, I think it only had 3 episodes before Fox canceled it.

Yeah, and the show was starting kind of slow, like Dynasty and Dallas. The network optioned 6 episodes, I think, but only showed the 3. Instead the bumped Lie to Me up from mid-season to basic season replacement.

[personal profile] veracity 2011-02-18 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it totally did. The networks expect instant success.

[identity profile] shinyandnat.livejournal.com 2011-02-18 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, and sometimes it takes a little while for people to get into a show. Argh, that's so annoying.

I was disappointed because they keep canceling my Aaron Spelling Rich People Lite Shows (Dirty Sexy Money, Lone Star). How rude.

[identity profile] shinyandnat.livejournal.com 2011-02-19 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
That is very rude! Since when do people not like to watch shows about rich people?

Since crime dramas got their second wind, apparently. It's a little annoying, really.

[identity profile] shinyandnat.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Fucking crime shows. :| They are the bane of my life.

You know, I like some crime dramas. I like most of the ones on CBS (NCIS, formerly Numb3rs, Criminal Minds). I'm not a fan of the genre, generally, though. Well, no. I like L&O: UK, too. But there's so many of them. They've replaced the sitcoms. It's time for good old fashioned nighttime soaps to reemerge.

[identity profile] shinyandnat.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I like Bones and NCIS, and I used to watch Criminal Minds a lot. And I don't mind the Mentalist. But the L&O/CSIs of the world can mostly go jump, really.

[personal profile] veracity 2011-02-20 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
I like the UK L&O because it's got a bit more....less rote to it? It's not inspiring 13 other shows, either. So there's some sort of boundaries, I think. NCIS can be good when it's team centered. But I like the idea of team shows (hence Numb3rs). CSI holds little interest to me. It's always too dark in lighting and depressing.

[identity profile] shinyandnat.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't actually seen any of the UK one, which is a shame because Jamie Bamber is so damn fine. But yeah, the ones I do like do focus a little more on the team than they do just having case after case after case.

[personal profile] veracity 2011-02-20 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
I like the UK one because it's got a set team, not a lot of cast changes. It works out well. And it's got Freema doing a good job, and I love the other cast to go with it.

[identity profile] shinyandnat.livejournal.com 2011-02-20 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe I will hunt down an ep or two. I don't think it lasted very long on tv here.

I know here in the US it's played on BCCA, which is good. It's a nice solidarity feel.
