RIP, Courtney And McDuffie

Dwayne McDuffie has passed away, following complications from surgery. May he rest in peace. I’ve never seen Static Shock, Teen Titans, or Ben 10. I haven’t read Firestorm, the time frame he worked on the JLA, Deathlok, or any other comic he wrote. However, I did watch JLU, so I probably saw something he wrote there.

Nicholas Courtneyaka The Brigadierpassed away in the early hours of this morning, at the age of 81. At one point I remember hearing that he suffered a stroke that prevented him from appearing in the same episode as the Tenth Doctor. While early reports said the cause of death had yet to be disclosed, it was related to cancer. I’ve only seen one or two old episodes with him in them, but I liked what I saw, and had hoped he could eventually meet the Eleventh Doctor on screen. May he rest in peace. Read the SFX link for a great article of his life.

Just thought I would help spread the word on this one: [livejournal.com profile] help_nz has been created, in order to raise money to help those affected by the devastating earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Nick had been suffering from cancer, too. I am absolutely heart-broken by his death. I really thought he'd go on forever.

Totally heart-broken to hear Nick Courtney has died. I loved the Brig. He was my all time favourite DW character after the Doc. I kept hoping he'd appear on one of the new shows.

And thanks for the plug for NZ. Our beautiful city we were so proud of is in ruins, many lives lost and probably more to come. It was a dark day for us all in Christchurch.
