Of the icons that are still active in the x_meggan journal, the ones I was using prior to the free paid account trial are not the ones that survived. Except for the icon I had as default. When I looked yesterday, I thought there were a couple that had made it through other than that. Apparently not when I went to comment with it today, or something weird happened and a glitch rearranged it.

I may end up just deleting that default one (adorable though it may be) and numerous others just to get back the ones I need the most, unless it turns out not being able to access them is a glitch and not a bait and switch.

I'm going to dig through the comments in the last few news posts later, and see if anyone asked about it.

I think it grabs the last 15 you've used based on what happened to me. Given that I'd been just using my icons for the sake of using them during my last week of paid time, the icons I ended up with were not my favourites.

Nah, it was always like that. When my paid account turned back to free back in the days where I actually had a paid account, LiveJournal "chose" the icons I used "most often" to keep while the others were locked. If you want to change them, you have to delete all of them and start over.

How often do you use that account? I just checked mine and found that all 26 icons I had when it went to paid for a while stayed. So I still have all mine, yay. I have a limit of 30 still, so I think it may be how often you use the account on whether you got to keep them or not.

I could be completely wrong though.

I use it every few days or so for commenting or posting to the group for logs. Based on something I read, I think the ones they've declared as inactive will eventually (within a month--could be more, could be less time) be deleted from the server if I don't do some deleting myself.

Hmm. I wonder why I got to keep all mine then...? I wrote in my lj not very often when it was on the paid upgraded thing...so I don't understand that, but it is also my main account.

I don't know. However, I do remember another RPG journal I had managing to keep them (inactive) for at least 3 years after the paid account expired, before I deleted the ones I didn't need myself. LJ never deleted them from the servers. In the case of that one, I think it was years since I used it.

I'd love to know what was going on in the current issue, though, too--but thanks to a very kind anonymous person sending me 600 tokens, I have access to the other 15 icons in the x_meggan journal again for the next year.

Not a paid account, just a regular plus account with the benefit of 30 icons. The 30 icons was all I needed, though, so I'm very happy.
