Update On The Weather
City officials got together yesterday afternoon, and came to an agreement that the flood wall needed to go up downtown because of the massive amounts of rain--rather than taking a while to do it, it was done immediately, due to the fact it was going to crest soon. They also agreed on something else: apparently, what’s going on is the worst thing to hit Paducah since the ice storm.
Livingston County was evacuated last night from what I’ve heard, because they are so close to the river, and it’s underwater now. Flooding there now has surpassed flooding there in 1997.
As for McCracken County? Thanks to constant (except for now--we’re having a one hour break, before it starts again) torrential rains and all those tornadoes, since Friday we have received 8 inches of rain. Wednesday will add another 5.9 inches to that. That doesn’t count what we get today, or tonight, or tomorrow, since there’s expected to be severe weather tonight. (My sinuses can verify that) Later in the week, it should stop--only for another thunderstorm toward the weekend.
Lone Oak may be on high ground, but it’s not helping all that much. The baseball field the high school uses out back looks like a small pond.
Oh, and before I forget there was this little bit of information released about the tornadoes. Normally during April in any given year, you would get just barely around 100 tornadoes reported in the region. How many has it been this April? 785 so far.
On a vaguely lighter note, we have a family of rabbits seeking shelter. Toward evening, they come. Each evening, they've come closer to getting on the porch. The large male is one that's been around since prior to the ice storm, so I think it's his children he's brought. They look alike.

It's starting to look like someone read an incantation they shouldn't have...
