Couple Of Fannish Items of Interest, And A Cairo Update

In the tradition of help_japan and help_haiti, helpthesouth has been set up to provide aid for those devastated by the tornadoes. They will open momentarily, and the first round of bidding lasts about 2-3 weeks. I'm considering offering fanfic.

In Cairo, they are now dealing with something called a sand boil. The water suddenly erupted in the middle of a field, with chunks of cement floating in it that they believe comes from the levee. The National Guard are working as fast as they can and also doing periodic fly overs of the rest of the area just in case there’s another one. They’re hoping the levee isn’t damaged too much. Several roads (the ones that had the sinkholes appear) have disintegrated.

Lee Pace has been cast as the Elven King Thranduil in The Hobbit.
