Fannish Items Of Interest
Syfy renews Alphas.
Neil Gaiman wants to continue a tradition (which he started last year) of trading scary books on Halloween, called All Hallow’s Read.
According to Dan DiDio, Justice League International never existed in its original incarnation—also in this brand new world they’ve made, Ted Kord and Dan Garett never existed.
Christopher Lloyd did a commercial as Doc Brown for an Argentinian electronics store. You can watch what appears to be a prequel here, and the actual commercial here—love Doc’s backfiring inventions.
From Cracked: The 7 Creepiest Old School Robots.
Three clips have been released for the next episode of Doctor Who. Clip 1 is here. Clip 2 is here. Clip 3 is here.
I came to the conclusion that whatever’s going on with IE might involve Java or something similar to that.
whedonesque has a live Twitter feed window in their site, as do many of the other pages affected. Coincidentally, at that same moment Windows Updates notified me of a patch for IE 8 in XP--KB2559049. According to this site, this patch might be able to correct it. “Another fix helps ensure that IE8 can properly access sites that advertise IPv6 addresses when those sites are not reachable over IPv6 due to configuration errors on the site or the user’s network.” Has anyone else had this problem and used that patch yet? I’d like to know if it will mess anything up before I attempt to allow it in.
