Highlander, Buffy, Orphan Black Marathons
Jul. 19th, 2013 06:00 amFor those that may be interested, Syfy is having a marathon of Highlander: The Series today, from 7 AM CST, to 6 PM CST. And then 8 AM CST Sunday morning, until early Monday morning at 3 AM, they are having a Buffy marathon.
In other news, yesterday I spotted the entirety of the first season of Orphan Black on Comcast On Demand. Watched all of it, enjoyed it--I'll be watching when season 2 starts. All I managed to catch when it first aired was the first episode, and part of the second, I think.
On a more serious note, Mom seems to have done well with the chemo—which was Monday through Wednesday morning. The next round is in two weeks.

As a passing note as to how cluttered Nellie’s house was? Her daughter hired a cleaning crew. They’ve brought the back of a semi truck to cart things off, with extra dumpsters. They’ve been working almost non-stop (they took a break on Sunday afternoon) since Friday. They’ve hauled that thing away six times to the dump and back, and they’ve only made it into the living room. They get here at 7 AM every morning, and they don’t stop until 6 PM.

In other news, sister got out of the hospital last night. And yesterday morning we got word that someone on Dad’s side of the family died. Due to our drama, he was unable to attend the wake (which would have been last night) or the funeral (which was this morning, in Louisiana). The florist we usually use for sending them something is temporarily closed due to the owner apparently being diagnosed with cancer. We eventually managed to find someone who would deliver there.
Meanwhile, Mom found Nellie’s room in the hospital. She’s only allowed ice chips now that it’s the end, but she’s still interested in slaughtering the nurses. She ordered Mom to bring her her mail—all three huge sacks of them, so she could mock the endless political things that had been stuffed in her mailbox. Mom complied.
On the Yuletide side of things, I just need to rewatch a couple more episodes of the show that I was assigned. I’ve come up with several ideas, and chunks that could go into the middle of the fanfic. I’m working on what I think the ending should be like, and a few other little, but important things, making sure I’ve got a handle on characterization, and then (since I’m currently recovering from a migraine) I’ll get started on it.

Sep. 8th, 2012 09:28 amFandom Brainstorming For Yuletide 2012. Nominations begin later this month. I’ve been planning my nominations for a few months now. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: 1996 will be in one of the three slots, since I’ve already come up with a prompt. If someone else nominates Ghostbusters and Dark Shadows (90’s version) then I won’t need to, and I can go for the original Fright Night. For the final nomination, it depends on which one of these people want to see end up on the list more: The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, Mr. Boogedy, The Librarian series of movies, Fred Saberhagen’s Dracula novels, Innocent Blood (1992), or The Mercury Men.
