Fannish Items of Interest

First of all, Les Daniels has passed away. There is very little information as of yet, but from what I’ve found it followed a short illness. May he rest in peace--I'll edit as I find out more. When I was around 10 or so, I found his vampire novels in a used bookstore and enjoyed them. Citizen Vampire, The Silver Skull, The Black Castle, and Yellow Fog. He also wrote Marvel: Five Fabulous Decades of the World's Greatest Comics, DC Comics: Sixty Years of the World’s Favorite Comic Book Heroes, and various other comic book works, most of which I owned.

Remembering Andy Rooney with MST3K.

Dimestore Dames spotlights Cecilia Reyes.

Syfy’s preview for Lost Girl.

The trailer for the next episode of Merlin, called The Secret Sharer.

SFX lists Sci Fi’s 10 Geekiest Films And Shows. Buffy makes the list, along with The Middleman.

SFX discusses Elisabeth Sladen’s autobiography, listing 35 facts they discovered from it. I’ll be on the lookout for it over here.

I’ve just discovered that in the evening, a local channel transforms into ME TV. And on Saturdays, at 9 PM, there’s a horror host that pops up. Svengoolie. This is apparently what his act is like. I’ll try to catch it when he shows Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man next week, and see if I like him. Made a syndicated feed of his blog, so I’ll actually know when there are updates with the schedule. [livejournal.com profile] svengoolierss. Had I watched last night's airing of Dr. Cyclops, I could have seen him interviewing Robert Englund.

Les Daniels' DC Comics history was one of the most important, beloved books that I owned as a teenager. It was vital in my development as a young DC fan, and for that, I will be forever grateful to him. Hopefully we'll be seeing more proper tributes to this great comics historian.

I ADORE ME TV. So much great stuff. It's hard to not overload my DVR with all the great things they show.
