So Long, Catnshadows

I’ve just been notified by LJ that what might have been my very first RPG journal (which I never used except to do more than upload two icons, since the game never got off the ground) from as far back as 2004 is due to be purged in 15 days. I’m okay with that. So long, [profile] catnshadows--it's time to let someone else have a chance to have that username.

Just of curiosity, is it being purged due to lack of activity? I ask because there are a number of now-dormant LJs that I still visit - often because of beloved fic or other entries I had enjoyed in the past. But they are no longer updated (and, in some cases, probably never will be). Is there a time limit on how long an account can remain inactive?

It's more if it was never updated. No activity at all.

The message:
"LiveJournal is planning to start deleting inactive empty accounts. Pursuant to our housekeeping policy, your LiveJournal account catnshadows is scheduled to be deleted in 15 days."

If the person losing a journal cared to save it from deletion, all that's needed is logging in to the account.

Ah! Thanks for the info! (I don't know for sure if those journals' owners ever even sign in anymore. I guess, just to be on the safe side, I'd better back up some of the entries I liked!)
