Dear Yuletide 2012 Letter
First up, the four fandoms: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: 1996, Fright Night (1985), Ghostbusters - All Media Types, Addams Family (1991). This is for the use of whoever is assigned to write for me in this year's Yuletide fic exchange.
Thank you for choosing to write me a story for Yuletide. I’m usually easy to please when it comes to fanfic written for me. My likes and dislikes, copied from a Yuletide letter I wrote a few years back: I’m fine with fanfic that’s a bit of a darker tone, so long as it doesn’t go into PWP, BDSM, rape, or incest territories.
I am equally fine with fluff or hurt/comfort. Fine with gen, het, or slash, as long as it isn’t what I mentioned above. If you want to do anything pairing free, that is completely fine with me. For me, the characterization is the most important aspect of the story, and it doesn’t matter whether it’s humor or angst or somewhere in between--so just do your best. Use your own judgment for what works from the prompts I’ve provided, and I’m sure I’ll love it.
Again I say thank you for writing something for me, whoever you are. I’m sure that I’ll enjoy whatever you happen to come up with. I love fanfic with snark and humor. Slight crossovers between fandoms I enjoy will always be welcome.
My requests:
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: 1996
The prompt:
I desperately want to see fanfic involving either the team from 1996, or the team from 1988. Do a crossover against some bigger threat from one of their rogues galleries, if you feel so inclined. Did Gozer do something on a larger scale that means Egon needs a truckload of reinforcements? Did Connor Macleod of the Clan Macleod need aid to defeat a reality warper that wanted to make him think he was from Zeist? Was time travel involved? Would Zack Morris be defeated by that girl from The Craft, the one person able to defeat his ability to stop time and talk to nobody for five minutes before they can even stop Carmen Sandiego from stealing KITT or a national monument?
For reference, this is The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: 1996. I’m not that picky when it comes to plot for a story in this one. You can involve the characters from the 1996 team, or ones in the pictures behind them (from 1988). I threw out several insane scenarios in the prompt, but you don’t have to stick to those, or to those particular characters. If you concoct something utterly out there and bizarre, feel free to go wild with it. It’s your call.
Fright Night (1985)
The prompt:
Peter Vincent has done incredibly well against vampires. What happens when he and Charley are confronted with a zombie apocalypse? How do they react, and just how dark do things get for them? Make this as humorous as you wish, in keeping with the spirit of the film. If the muse strikes and it’s another creature that goes bump in the night, like a werewolf, (not just a vampire becoming a wolf, such as Evil Ed did) or ghosts or some other type, I would be equally happy.
I’ve developed a fondness for this movie, and would just love to see them interacting with other entities of the supernatural. Or dealing with the fallout of something that happened, especially if it came soon after Jerry was vanquished.
Ghostbusters - All Media Types
When they cross the streams, there's always another outcome. The closest to the portal is sucked inside, trapped inside Gozer's realm for who knows how long. Is it Peter? Is it Ray? How does whoever it is survive to get back, and how much has he changed? Are they forced to learn things that corrupt them in small ways, only noticeable to their friends and Dana as they head back to the (now mostly ruined thanks to Walter Peck) firehouse? Could be years on the other side, while a few mere moments pass for us.
Ghostbusters is one of my favorite movies, but I don’t want to put you under any pressure. With this Ghostbusters story, it can be as dark, twisted, or as funny as you wish. If you don't want to set it during or after the first movie, I'm fine with it being set at some point in their career as Ghostbusters, if they’re forced to have a rematch with Gozer. If you choose an entirely new direction for the movie with just a tiny nugget of my original idea, that's great, too.
Have fun with it, work in humor even when things are at their darkest, and I’ll probably be fine with it. I don’t have to have a specific pairing that I'm dead set on seeing in whatever gets written. If you need to work with pairings, I’m fine with Peter/Dana, or Egon/Janine.
Addams Family (1991)
The Addams Family have a slight Elder Demon (with a good heaping of Cthulhu) infestation in the kitchen thanks to the family playing around with black magic from the old Necronomicon they inherited.
I just love the extremely dark humor of the Addams Family films, and want to see their version of Elder Demon invasion. If you don’t want Cthulhu to be the demon that’s raised (or almost raised, depending on the situation) then feel free to use any other demonic creature you can devise. Perhaps that little man on the train (seen at 2:07 here) Gomez was destroying was a piece of their weekly miniature ritual sacrifices. To better feed the thing.
