Rest In Peace, Gene Wilder

Gene Wilder has passed away at the age of 83, as a result of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. May he rest in peace. He is most famous for his roles in Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory and Young Frankenstein. I avoided the former (well, except for the “there’s no earthly way of knowing” scene) but the latter is good. For Sherlock Holmes fans, he was Sigerson Holmes in The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes’ Smarter Brother.

When I was 6, I loved Haunted Honeymoon, even if I now realize it wasn’t that great.

He was in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was Johnny Depp.

And you should DEFINITELY watch him in Willy Wonka; it's a great movie.

Truth time: I actually mostly fast-forward through the songs. Exceptions being "World of Pure Imagination" and I usually watch one or two of the Oompa Loompa songs (the one after Veruca Salt/the golden geese is probably the best if you want to limit yourself to just one). There's plenty of movie w/out the songs, and you won't miss anything crucial to the story if you just listen to like, the first couple of lines of each song to get the jist.

Hubby and I saw Willy Wonka as a tribute. A day or two later we saw my favorite: Blazing Saddles.
