Rest In Peace, William Peter Blatty

William Peter Blatty passed away last night at the age of 89. May he rest in peace. He is likely most famous for being the author of The Exorcist. He wrote and directed The Exorcist III (1990), and worked on the scripts for comedies like A Shot In The Dark (1964).

While I have never truly had a desire to read that particular novel, or watch the adaptation of it, I am interested in The Exorcist III. Perhaps eventually, I’ll give it a watch.

There was a brief period in 2013 when I desperately needed some older style humor in my life. I developed an oddly short-lived fondness for The Pink Panther films, and enjoyed A Shot In The Dark in particular.

My mother told me once that she and my father were stationed in Washington DC when the incident that inspired The Exorcist happened. I have no idea if this is really true or not, though.
