Desperately Seeking Story
There is a story that I read a few months ago, before my computer lost everything. I'm hoping someone will recognize it and be able to help.
I don't remember the title or the author, but I think it takes place in the middle of season 6. Willow goes evil much earlier than in the show--probably the middle of the season, rather than the end. Tara gets killed by Willow at some point in the story, and I remember that Willow sets Spike on fire. He survives, but has to be bandaged up from head to toe. I think Giles helps Buffy change the bandages at one point. Willow hurt Spike and killed Tara because she is possessed. At the end of season 2, when she cast the spell to give Angelus his soul back, she was briefly taken over by the spirit of a gypsy. That spirit never left, it just wanted a body. It finally made Willow go out of control with magic.
Toward the end, Tara's spirit merges with Giles so that he has a chance with his magic against Willow. Eventually, they get the spirit out of Willow, but she's insane. She remembers and is horrified by what she did to Tara. Spike helps with Willow at one point, and I remember that Buffy tells him to hide with Willow in the sewer while they call an ambulance for Giles(he has some bad injuries) and Tara(she's dead).
