Fannish Items of Interest

Last time I’ll be posting this one, since unscreening is right around the corner—my [livejournal.com profile] fandom_stocking is located here.

Dreamwidth now allows community imports from users with paid accounts, in addition to regular journal imports.

Pop Culture Resolutions For 2012.

Sir Christopher Lee discusses The Hobbit and (briefly at the end) Dark Shadows in his Christmas message.

Micha Hershman leaves Dark Horse.

Bryan Hitch is leaving Marvel, after ten years.

This may be the first real look at The Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man.

The Dark And Obscure Gems of the Disney Vault. Includes a mention of The Watcher In The Woods, Something Wicked This Way Comes, The Black Cauldron, The Devil And Max Devlin, and several others. I would have included Return to Oz, Mr. Boogedy/Bride of Boogedy, and The Child of Glass.

For seven days, you can download (for free—it’s their Pick of the Week) BBC Radio’s The Pied Piper of Hamlin, as read by David Tennant.

Erica Durance wears the costume from the failed Wonder Woman pilot (the corset portion looks slightly better on her since she’s not spilling out, even if the whole emsemble looks awful) in an episode of Harry’s Law.

Watch the unaired pilot for Ronald D. Moore’s 17th Precinct.

Yesterday, for me at least, Youtube switched back to the old layout (while I was in IE) and the x button to remove videos from the subscription was restored. Today, the glitch must have resolved, since it’s back to the newer, horribly done one, minus the x. So it’s back to watching videos there through Firefox, where Greasemonkey’s code can allow me to use the original layout.

Side note: For all those interested, Ghostbusters Blu-Ray has been marked down from $19.99, to $7.99 for a very limited time on Amazon. If I happened to have a Blu-Ray player, I would purchase that immediately--in lieu of that, for those that do have one, I'm just spreading the word on the deal. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] yendi for spotting it first.

The local news says that for the year, we've had a grand total of 74.85 inches of rain. I'm not surprised by that. Most of that hit us in April, accompanied by tornadoes--which triggered flooding for the region.
