Veronica Mars

I'm considering giving Veronica Mars a shot. I have a few questions before I watch it. So far, the only thing I know is that the show is a mystery. (And that Joss Whedon will guest star very soon.)

1. Are there any places on LJ that explain what has happened up to this point?

2. Is it worth watching? Or is it just a lot of teen angst?

3. What week does Joss Whedon guest-star? Is it this week? (And does it normally air on Thursdays?)

Those are all the questions I can think of for now.

1. Lots of places, I'm sure, but I couldn't tell you.

2. The first season? Hell yes. Immense, excellent, fast-paced and cleverly written. The second season - I'm still not sure about.

3. Heck if I know - this is the first I've heard about him guest-starring. It normally airs on UPN, Wednesdays, at 9.

I can tell you that I enjoy the show A LOT. I felt the first season was one of the strongest bits of television I've seen for a while. It also was NOT just teen drama - I really don't watch teen drama. Also, Veronica kicks ass.

1. Go to http://MarsInvestigations.net They have excellent summaries of all the mysteries and plots

2. Yes it is. Not much teen angst at all actually.

3. He guest-stars next Wednesday, at 9pm.

Reading a recap will ruin the first season for you, and the first season was pretty interesting. I would watch it on DVD or something, if at all possible.

Veronica Mars!! YAY!! I adore that show. Not like I loved BtVS/AtS or anything, but then again it's only in its second season.

As for the questions, I agree with some of the other comments.

1. I'm there are, but with the way the show is going I'd so watch the first season before reading up on anything. There are so many spoilers and such throughout the season that it's so much better just to watch it for the first time without knowing. :)

2. YESYESYESYESYES! Watch it. :)

3. I believe it is next week. And Wednesdays, UPN, 9pm. ;) Also, Joss stars in that ep, but also Charisma is in the second season along with Alyson in the first and a couple in the second. :)

Also, I totally second the applying for membership at the community. :) Can get caught up nice and quick.

Um. Not that I know of. But VM has a ton of fan sites with synopsises.

2. Is it worth watching? Or is it just a lot of teen angst?

Think Buffy without vampires. Very witty, very smart, and oh-so-fantastically angsty. It's DEFINITELY worth watching.

3. What week does Joss Whedon guest-star? Is it this week? (And does it normally air on Thursdays?)

It airs NEXT week I believe. Sometime in the next three weeks. And it airs Wednesday on UPN after America's Top Model (of course, this is me assuming you're watching in America).

Maybe cause most everyone and their mother is now showing on Thursdays? They're showing repeats, so maybe it showed on a Thursday once? I dunno. but my UPN shows it at 6 pm on Saturday.

[livejournal.com profile] everysingleway gets a repeat sunday nights at 9 pm or something like that.

I can honestly say that I am completely in love with that show. it is very interesting and entertaining. The dialogue is extremely witty and it is just plain /fun/.

Ha. You kind of sounds like me two weeks ago. BE WARNED. One day I was like, la la la, VM, huh? I'd seen a few eps and they didn't really do anything for me, but my fl seemed into it, so I downloaded it, and now I'm one of those crazy VM people. It's sad. ;-P

So my answer to your #1 would definitely be to watch the first season if you can, not spoil yourself for it. The arc is threaded throughout all the episodes, so it's good to sit down with it all at once. I'm so glad I got to watch it that way. Plus, season 2 wouldn't have the same resonance without that background, obviously.

#2 - It's not very teen angsty, no. I like how it's not really a show that's about couples and pairing characters together, although fandom will lead you to believe something different...

#3 - I have no idea. I'm really just getting into VM, so I'm not up on all that stuff yet. I didn't even know he was guesting. That's... huh.

It's totally worth watching! It's my favorite show on tv right now. :) Joss wrote an article for entertainment weekly a couple of weeks ago for it, and that has to be endorsement enough. :) I don't know what week he's going to be on - sorry! I'll drop by and let you know if I hear when, okay?
