Ghostbusters, And More...
I’m going to be recommending Ghostbusters stories for
crack_van during the month of April. (I just found out earlier.) Does anyone on my friends list happen to know if Robyn Thurman’s fanfics (specifically Looking Glass, and the one before that which I have in fanzine form) are still archived anywhere? I have most of her stories saved to my external hard drive, and read them from time to time, and they are great. However, I doubt I’ll be able to rec her stories unless I have a link available.
And here’s a meme, taken from
penknife.
The Hypothetical AU Meme: Take any one of the fandoms you know I write AND give me a type of AU (space opera AU, pirate AU, superhero AU, etc.). I will then explain what story from that fandom I would write for that AU.
In other news, there’s currently a two way tie in the Meggan poll. If it’s still tied by tomorrow afternoon, I’ll either start a poll with just the two of them, or just…close my eyes and pick one. Heh.

In the cheesy gothic romance format, Venkman remains a dastardly rogue that breaks the heart of every woman he meets. Egon and Ray are his friends who are by turns dryly amused and horrified when he sets out to make contact with the spirit world in a seance.
The reason? He's met a nice young woman by the name of Dana Barrett, and wants to lure her there. Things escalate when the medium accidentally makes contact with a demon dimension, sending in various monsters and spirits.
Dana gets possessed and runs off. They start an angst filled journey down a few alley ways to try to use various pieces of junk to create a ghost trap--sadly, it always explodes. Egon blows up a few hovels by mistake, thinking there are ghosts there. The residents are not amused, and they escape before the gothic equivalent of the local police arrive.
Somehow they meet Winston who builds what they need; he deems them mad, and avoids them for the rest of the story.
Dana gets freed from the possession, and Venkman tries to take all the credit. Despite her protests, he sweeps her off her feet--literally carrying her off.
Dana isn't happy, and when they go their separate ways after a brief affair, she writes a torrid memoir (after failing to send him to the nearest asylum) about their escapades, ruining the men's reputations. Not that Peter had much of one to begin with, but it's the principle of the thing.
And...that's all I could think of.

(Was one of her fics the one where this Egyptian mummy comes to life and
vampsattacks Peter in the basement of a museum? I haven't read RGB fic in ages)I'm not entirely sure if I still have them at least on disc (I reformatted my hard drive recently, and burnt a lot of stuff on DVD-R beforehand) but I remember reading somewhere that she was taking them down because she was about to be published. (I checked this page (http://members.aol.com/venkie/rgb/rgb.htm) out, but no go.)

Yeah, I think that was the last thing I ever heard about the fanfics, too. I used to be able to find them through Archive.org at one point, but I don't know if

Here's 'Looking Glass':

I just happen to be killing time tonight, looking for her fic 'Absolution' on Wayback. I still haven't found 'The Alice', though.
BTW: I'm following you on CrackVan, doing Wild Wild West in May! It's a small internet... :-)

Yeah, I never have been able to find The Alice anywhere, except for a fanzine that I was lucky to find at all.
