Related To The Ambulance Ride

I just got a bill in the mail telling how much the 4 or 5 minute ride in the ambulance to the hospital was, where all they did was start an IV, put an oxygen thing around my nose, and put EKG pads on me. (The trip was over before they could actually do anything.) $925. I knew they charged a lot for those rides...

Good news: My insurance paid all except $200, and Mom and Dad are helping out with that. I can't wait to see how much the bill for the actual stay in the hospital is.

Wow, that's crazy.

I had an ambulance ride in April and it was $520.

Of course the hospital bill was $14,000 for a 17 hour stay in which they performed maybe 3-4 tests on me.

Wow, I completely missed your hospital-related post last week (stupid work and its internet filters). That could not have been fun at all. I'm glad to see you're fine now!

This country has some of the best medical care in the world...and it costs people a god damn fortune to even think about accessing it. And they're wondering why people here are a lot less healthy than their counterparts in other countries...who don't have to think about mortgaging their home because of a trip to the hospital.

Sheesh. That's a hefty bill for a ride to the hospital. Glad to hear you got it all worked out though.

Know what you mean about the hospital stay. Hope it's not too bad for you.

When my husband went from one ICU to another hospital's ICU that was about 20 miles away, the insurance paid entirely for the ambulance ride, which is a good thing. Especially since the bill was for over $50,000.
