A Runaways movie may be in the works after all. For Gertrude Yorkes, the only person I can think of that would work to play her is probably Tina Majorino.

I would prefer it if they used lesser knowns for the kids, esp. for Gert. I would really like it if they broke out of the casting mold and got somehow who actually was close to the size that Gert is portrayed as being in the comic. Plus Tina Majorino is entirely too old. And annoying.

In my opinion, the only mainstream actress I know of at present who could pull it off (other than being too thin and too old) would be Thora Birch.

For some reason, I thought Tina Majorino was in her teens. Apparently not, according to IMDB. The only thing I ever saw her in was Veronica Mars, and she was almost the only character I liked.

As for Thora Birch, the only thing I've ever watched her in was Hocus Pocus, and that's when she was little. Googling her, though, you're right about her being too thin.

Tina looks young for her age. I've never seen VM so I wasn't aware she was in that, but I have seen her in Big Love and she does not look as young as her character is supposed to be.

Oh man. I forgot Thora was in that. I like Thora a lot, and she has the right attitude for Gert, but I'm really hoping to see the role go to someone not so thin if the movies does get made.

I've never seen Big Love, since that's on either HBO or Showtime, and we don't get either of those channels.

I couldn't possibly forget Thora was in Hocus Pocus, because they're rerunning it over and over again for Halloween. Mostly on The Family Channel.

Oh, yeah. The character was never meant to be stick thin, going by the trade paperbacks I've read.
