For those that hate the clutter caused on the LJ homepage by all those new additions? There is a solution, and it’s a simple one. For some reason I missed it on my friends list the first time around, so thanks to deathpixie for posting about it.

I use Xcolibur for the site scheme, and I know it works great there. I can finally see the Writer’s Block and journal comments, without having to go on what was starting to feel like a scavenger hunt.

Meanwhile, I’m trying to help out someone that’s looking for a PB for Tora Olafsdotter, aka Ice, from JLI. Does anyone on my friends list have any ideas? So far, the best I can come up with are Amber Benson and Christina Cole. Maybe Audrey Tautou, if you altered her hair.

I think that would have to be Ghostbusters. Since the age of 3, I'm pretty sure I've watched it more than a million times. There was a period of time when I was little, when I watched it three times a day. When it was shown at a theater around Halloween a few years back, I went to see it. Whenever it's on any channel, I will watch it. Given all that time watching it, I'm probably not going to get sick of it.

This time, it seems to be official. Andrew Garfield has been cast as Spider-Man. For Doctor Who fans, he played Frank in the Daleks in Manhattan two parter. Now, the next order of business—who should play Mary Jane Watson? My ideas so far are Alicia Witt or Felicia Day. I would have said Molly C. Quinn, Rachel Hurd-Wood, Danielle Panabaker, or Saoirse Ronan with red hair, but they’re far too young, given how they have Peter Parker looking. Then again, Saoirse Ronan might have worked better as Gwen.

Over at Topless Robot, they’re doing a Casting Call, similar to what Wizard Magazine used to do. Of course, this time it’s basically a free-for-all of casting anything and everything in the comments. Fables, X-Men, He-Man, Batman, the JLI, Spider-Man, etc… Some of the suggestions are great, and others are just out there and funny.

The Support Stacie Auction is already taking sign-ups for the auction in April. I’m working on the sign-up form, and I’ll offer Doctor Who as one fandom. For the second fandom, I can’t decide between offering Ghostbusters or Merlin—so you get a poll, since I only want to offer two fandoms.

The Worst (And Weirdest) Vampire Products. The glow-in-the-dark soap with Blacula’s face on it is strange--the shower curtain with Robert Pattinson’s face on it is horrifying. As are a few of the other items.

11 Scary, Goofy And Just Plain Revolting Movie Possessions. Ghostbusters gets mentioned--but they got it just a tiny bit wrong. Louis and Dana aren’t possessed by servants of the ancient goddess Zuul--they’re possessed by the minions of Gozer.

Of all the footage I’ve been seeing of the sandstorm in Australia, I find this one to be one of the most amazing. And over at Io9, you can find at least one more video in the comments to this post.

And for those that are interested, I stumbled across a site called Comic Book Movie Fansites, where someone named TheHawk compiled a list of pretty much everyone (I think a few of the Exiles, and a few from Generation X are missing) in the X-Men and Justice League comics, and who should play them. 108 characters from the Justice League. 330 X-Men characters. Some of the ideas are pretty good. A few are horrible, but others might actually work

Regarding Dancing With The Stars, I’m glad that Macy Gray went home. I think the reason Tom Delay didn’t go home, was because of what I like to call The Cloris Leachman Effect. Ashley Hamilton was awful, anyway, so it’s good that he went.

I’m working on the plot (from the prompt I’ve mentioned over in this post, if anyone missed it) of the Support Stacie fanfic. I also need to think of a good title. Any ideas? A Slap Is Worth A Thousand Words is the only one I’ve been able to think of so far, because at some point Jackie (or Donna, or Martha—while the clone wisely sits back and watches in amusement, grateful it’s not him) will slap the Doctor for even entertaining the notion of running away from everyone.

Sidenote: There was a Lifetime movie on yesterday (Augusta, Gone, I believe was the name) that included Mika Boorem in it. I actually made myself watch, so I could see if I thought she would work for Spoiler. I decided that she didn’t really. Oh, and I almost included Alona Tal in the poll after all, until I checked--and she’s taken, as she’s the PB for Black Canary over there. If anyone’s thinking of Kristen Bell, though, she’s on the taken list, too.

I almost added a short-haired Rachelle Lefevre, but she only has two or three icons of that style out there--the rest of the icons, she appears too old for the character.

I just this second remembered that at least one person on my friends list lives in Italy, so my best wishes go out to anyone on my friends list from there that might have gone through the earthquake.

I just want to give my thanks for everyone’s input in the poll in the previous post. I'm definitely going with the second option for the story.

Also, I mentioned to seandc that Ryan Reynolds got his start on the Nickelodeon show Fifteen--called Hillside in Canada. I managed to find the first part of the first episode of that show, and...if you can make it through more than 2 minutes, you have my sympathies. He’s listed as Billy in the opening credits. Ashley (girl who never speaks above a loud whisper) is played by Laura Harris. I’ve never heard of her before, but IMDB says she was in Dead Like Me and 24.

I’m subscribed to a thread (over at Comic Book Resources) about casting comic book characters. For an early 20’s, someone suggested Rosamund Pike. That might be one of the best suggestions I’ve seen for her. If anyone wants to read the thread, it’s here...and it’s 52 pages long. The mention of Rosamund Pike as Magma is on page 51.

In Doctor Who related news, I just read the major casting spoilers for the next (the one after the one that airs on Saturday) special. I’m not cutting this, because I’m not going to actually say anything about who it involves. However, for those wishing to avoid these spoilers, they may pop up in the comments. Needless to say, I’m thrilled by the news.

Here is a poll for the Briar Rose PB--pick as many as you wish, if you think more than one sounds good. As stated below, the poll goes until Saturday morning. The character’s hair/appearance isn’t currently set in stone, so you’re getting a variety of PB choices. Just in case of a tie, I’ll be cross-posting this to Insanejournal, and adding the votes together.

Because the RPG character poll was pretty much stuck in a tie, I opened the same poll over on IJ. I then added the number of votes for each character over there, to the poll over here. Meaning an extra 2 votes for The Little Mermaid, 2 for Sherlock Holmes, 1 for Briar Rose, and 1 for Snow White. So the results will now look like this: Amalthea: 3 votes; Briar Rose: 5 votes; Sherlock Holmes: 4 votes; Snow White: 2 votes. And The Little Mermaid wins the poll with a total of 6 votes.

Eventually, I’ll apply as The Little Mermaid—to that effect, Hollow Art’s forums gave me some great suggestions for a PB for The Little Mermaid, and now I’ve started another poll. Links to icons of each person can be found in the poll as well.

Of all the rumors of who will be playing Catwoman if she were in the third Batman movie, my favorite would have to be the latest. Rachel Weisz.

For those out there that are always on the lookout for good PB choices, I found a couple of threads. Of course, one (the second one I link to) of them is 39 pages long—and I believe it’s still going. It includes a few choices I never would have thought of—like Juno Temple as Pixie, Rachel Hurd-Wood as Mercury, and Percy Daggs III as Prodigy.

In other news, we’re due for a winter weather advisory (sleet, thunderstorms, and snow, apparently) beginning at 7 AM Monday morning, and ending at 7 AM Tuesday morning.

Who else thinks that Mia Wasikowska would possibly make a good grown-up Illyana Rasputin PB? That, or an older Meggan--I can't decide. Keep in mind I’m just going by the behind the scenes photos of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland movie--which can be found here.

And for those that are interested, I spotted a funny metaquotes post earlier, over here. It involves a dream someone had, where the Daleks and Joker ruled the world—which I believe halfway happened in the Emperor Joker storyline.

This discussion over at doctorwho made me wonder if there were any fanfics out there where the Doctor either gets taken over by the vortex he takes out of Rose, or is taken over by the power of it at any other time. Anyone know of any? Or any stories where Jack used the vortex instead of Rose?

In other (and awful) news, it’s good that I don’t leave the house on Black Friday (for anything other than a used bookstore trip, anyway). Someone was trampled to death at a Wal-Mart in New York. Elsewhere, someone fired a gun and killed two people at a Toys R Us.

Whatever happened to the days when you just had a tug-of-war over the last Cabbage Patch Doll? Mom told me stories of going to the mall when I was little, seeing a brawl (with hair pulling and scratching included) over the last Cabbage Patch Doll, and just leaving. Thankfully, even at the age of 3, I understood the reasoning behind not wanting to die over a toy.

A Runaways movie may be in the works after all. For Gertrude Yorkes, the only person I can think of that would work to play her is probably Tina Majorino.

Thanks to someone mentioning her in a comment elsewhere in my LJ, I realized that Carey Mulligan could also work for Meggan’s PB. Of course, I like Rachel Hurd-Wood just as much for a possibility.

If anyone wonders: I realized Alyson Hannigan and Claire Danes (expressions weren’t quite right for her) weren’t quite right personality-wise for the character; when it came to Kirsten Storms, it looked like she was too young in the icons I was able to find. She also tends to look more evil than nice these days (as Maxie on General Hospital) from what little I’ve seen of her since she left Days of Our Lives.

So here’s a poll, to help with that decision.
