That was close...

Well...that was traumatic. I no longer need to worry about the tree next to my room. It just fell over completely, rammed slightly against the wall, and crashed to the ground. It didn't crash through the window, because of the stuff we have on it. If it had, from what we can tell, the thick curtains and aluminum foil on the window (don't ask, I don't remember why it's there anymore) would have saved me if it had.

The bush where the cat sleeps will no longer be used. It's gone. So's another bush. From what we can tell (it's dark outside) it's slightly on the roof, but mostly off.

Just so you know, I was at the computer reading something on Teaspoon when it did it. I think I'll be sleeping in a different room tonight...

Edit: Yeah, that icon pretty much sums things up. When I ran out of my room, the cat ran in. She apparently wanted to see what happened.

I saw the bit about the first tree earlier when I was playing flist catch up...that be mightily cold if you've lost two trees already to ice. I can see where you'd be wary to sleep in rooms near the bloody things.

I was just downstairs refilling the coffee and Mum switched it over to the weather channel...you were saying? To someone like me from the tropics that is some seriously freaky shite!

Eek, I'm amazed you still have power.

We used to have tree problems back when we lived next to the golf course. We had three separate incidents, but only one was during a storm. That one fell parallel to the side yard. Very unsettling looking out your side window and seeing nothing but branches everywhere.

Stay safe!

Yikes, I'm glad the tree didn't fall through the window or hit anyone.

Yike! I'm glad it didn't hurt the house! And doubly glad it didn't hurt you!

Holy smokes! Glad to hear you and yours are safe. And all they're predicting for my neck of the woods is a wee bit of snow and a lot of rain...

Cats are strange creatures.

Glad you're okay :)

That must have been terrifying. I had a similar experience many years ago when a poplar tree crashed through my window after a stormy night. You wouldn't believe how much rainwater one tree can hold until it ends up on your carpet!
