That was close...
Well...that was traumatic. I no longer need to worry about the tree next to my room. It just fell over completely, rammed slightly against the wall, and crashed to the ground. It didn't crash through the window, because of the stuff we have on it. If it had, from what we can tell, the thick curtains and aluminum foil on the window (don't ask, I don't remember why it's there anymore) would have saved me if it had.
The bush where the cat sleeps will no longer be used. It's gone. So's another bush. From what we can tell (it's dark outside) it's slightly on the roof, but mostly off.
Just so you know, I was at the computer reading something on Teaspoon when it did it. I think I'll be sleeping in a different room tonight...
Edit: Yeah, that icon pretty much sums things up. When I ran out of my room, the cat ran in. She apparently wanted to see what happened.

He'll get rid of the tree near my room first when he does that. It will have to wait, because we'll be getting more ice, and a ton of snow tonight and tomorrow.

For a minute there, I thought it was more limbs somehow falling from somewhere else, but apparently not.
Shockingly, not as cold as you would think. It's 32 degrees right now, but The Weather Channel people are here, and raving about the horrific problems everyone's having.
They got here right before the sleet and freezing rain started yesterday, and are now stuck here.
ETA: Oooh, and another tree just went down somewhere else down the road. The end of the street, but easily heard.

We used to have tree problems back when we lived next to the golf course. We had three separate incidents, but only one was during a storm. That one fell parallel to the side yard. Very unsettling looking out your side window and seeing nothing but branches everywhere.
Stay safe!

And I think the tree is settling still out there--or it's a neighbor's tree going down even more. We think a tree over in her backyard might have hit her roof, but we can't tell right now, and she's out of town.
