I just this second remembered that at least one person on my friends list lives in Italy, so my best wishes go out to anyone on my friends list from there that might have gone through the earthquake.

I just want to give my thanks for everyone’s input in the poll in the previous post. I'm definitely going with the second option for the story.

Also, I mentioned to seandc that Ryan Reynolds got his start on the Nickelodeon show Fifteen--called Hillside in Canada. I managed to find the first part of the first episode of that show, and...if you can make it through more than 2 minutes, you have my sympathies. He’s listed as Billy in the opening credits. Ashley (girl who never speaks above a loud whisper) is played by Laura Harris. I’ve never heard of her before, but IMDB says she was in Dead Like Me and 24.

I’m subscribed to a thread (over at Comic Book Resources) about casting comic book characters. For an early 20’s, someone suggested Rosamund Pike. That might be one of the best suggestions I’ve seen for her. If anyone wants to read the thread, it’s here...and it’s 52 pages long. The mention of Rosamund Pike as Magma is on page 51.

In Doctor Who related news, I just read the major casting spoilers for the next (the one after the one that airs on Saturday) special. I’m not cutting this, because I’m not going to actually say anything about who it involves. However, for those wishing to avoid these spoilers, they may pop up in the comments. Needless to say, I’m thrilled by the news.

I think I suggested Rosamund Pike once as a potential Emma Frost in the blonde ice queen mold. That may have colored by her James Bond appearance though.

Now that you mention it, she would be a fantastic Emma, appearance-wise. Acting-wise, I've never seen her in anything--I've just seen dozens of posts with icons of her, over on Insanejournal.

Just did a quick hunt for her on Youtube, for anything she was in. Found a couple scenes of a version of Pride and Prejudice, and now I agree with you.

(Somehow, she didn't seem quite as awful in the icons I found. Weird.)

I remember Fifteen! I used to watch that show all the time.

I think every Sunday they had a Fifteen marathon--I remember it was always on after church, and I was hooked--but I have the excuse that I was 9 or 10. The only things I remember about it were that Matt was an alcoholic, and Brooke was evil and manipulative.

I also vaguely remember Ashley cheated on a test, and was so humiliated that she had been so horrible that she moved and went to another school, and brooded for a while.

My username over at Comic Book Resources is Karma, but I really never post. I mostly just registered so I could subscribe to threads.

I loved those marathons. I don't remember most of the shows, but I have a vague memory of like an atticy bedroom with really bad fake wood paneling. I think the Ashley changing schools is a plot that's imprinted, though. I was...around the same age, too.

See, I went all original...and chose veracity. I know! Surprising. Actually, you're the reason I registered since you reminded me after S_D's bumps and bruises to go back. Stick to YABS myself.

I've been going through the IMDB message boards, reading all the threads and seeing what others remember about the show. Some interesting trivia? Everyone always exited a scene by running--nobody ever actually walked.

Also? When they're at that diner place, nobody ever actually ate or drank anything. They just stirred their iceless drink, and stared melodramatically at their pizza.

Normally, I'm CallopesPen (or calliopes_pen) everywhere I go--or, if not that, Calliope, or something else that's similar. I guess I registered at CBR before I started doing that. It is easier to remember.

You are a brave soul. I avoid the IMDB boards whenever possible. I feel my IQ lowering every time I visit. Running you say? That makes an odd bit of sense since they have all that "dun dun dun" strong emotion. *snort*

Even after the calmest scene, where everyone was happy and wonderful, they would suddenly go running off up the stairs like they were about to be slaughtered by a serial killer.

Someone on IMDB mentioned that Matt was never actually seen drinking since it was on Nickelodeon--characters just randomly shrieked out "Matt's drinking again! GET HELP!" *cue dramatic music* *laughs*

*snort* It's like a precursor to 7th Heaven's attack of kids running up the stairs. Well, the cancellation serial killer could have been after them, too!

Ahahha! Drinking on Nick would have been too much soda, really. Remember when Nick was awesome like this? So cheesy and bad?

Ah, back when the Nickelodeon shows were actually good. Roundhouse, the early years of All That, Welcome Freshman (am I the only one that remembers that?) and Clarissa Explains It All. And Are You Afraid Of the Dark, of course.

*suddenly remembers Kenan and Kel, with Kel loving orange soda a little too much*

It's hard to find a good/coherent clip of Welcome Freshmen--every time anyone puts it on Youtube, Viacom forces them to remove it. Here's the Wikipedia entry for the show.

Hey Dude was the name of the one with the dude ranch. I loved Salute Your Shorts. Zeke the Plumber was my favorite episode.

And ever since Kenan and Kel ended, there have been rumors that Kel died. Drug overdose, car crash, suicide, etc... He keeps popping up to let people know that he isn't dead, from what I've heard.
