It's Been A Year, Apparently

According to Mom, today is one year to the day since I ended up in the hospital (a trip which lasted 2 1/2 weeks) with the bleeding ulcer covering 50% of my stomach, which has since fully healed. And for anyone new to my friends list, the whole horrific story can be read in this post.

So basically, within a year I've managed to survive that, and a freak ice storm that left everyone nearly frozen to death after four days, at the very least.

Here's hoping the next year isn't as freakish or awful!

I'd actually just been wondering on the bus not even an hour ago exactly which day would mark the year since that awful day (did you read my mind to post this so soon?)

I feel the pain re: bleeding ulcers. Mine wasn't nearly that bad, back in 2000 - but having it erupt while on a plane over the Atlantic, while simultaneously suffering from dehydration and low-level alcohol poisoning? Not a fun experience. So yeah, I'm right with you there.

With me, though, I never felt any pain before it happened. Or even during or after--only pain was being poked and prodded every other hour, and having tubes up my nose and other places. I should have been in agony, but I wasn't. Until I threw up blood I just thought I wasn't hungry, and was having the hottest (and longest) hot flash the world has ever seen.

Yeah, yours does sound awful, too. A lot worse if you're able to feel it, plus all that other nasty stuff.

Yikes! I remember that ulcer thing! Glad to hear it didn't give you any more problems after that.
