Fannish Items of Interest

Spider-Man is going to have mechanical webshooters, rather than organic ones this time around.

The newest trailer for Being Human, season 3.

Previously unreleased footage of the late Andy Hallett attending Slayerfest back in 2005 has been made available. [profile] whedonesque discusses it here. May he continue to rest in peace.

After 28 years on the air, Regis Philbin is ready to retire. I’ve been watching his show since I was 7—so 22 years for me. I never thought he would retire. I honestly expected him to die on the set, or during a show first. If they manage to replace him, the only ones I can see working are Anderson Cooper (who has a show on CNN) or her husband. And Jezebel has this article: What Television Loses When Regis Retires.

[profile] shengirl is the highest bidder ($5 so far) for me over at [profile] qldfloodauction. Also related to the auction—they have a request post, where you can tell how much you’re willing to pay. Someone will then come along and write something for you.

There is not enough 'Word' in all the world to describe that article. ♥

I heard Regis make his announcement this morning and I was sad. I love that he reads and discusses books and that he and his wife regularly attend Broadway shows, keep up with films, and have an active public life in NY -- not as part of his job, but because he's culturally active. I'll miss him.

I think the article was total fail on Daniel Jackson. Yeah, sure, lots of times they had to blow up stuff Daniel should have been researching... but most of the time you had Daniel arguing that they shouldn't, but they had to or everybody died, and there were PLENTY of times ancient artifacts/technology actually got retrieved after the episode (and studied elsewhere).

If the article was ordered from best to worst, then he should have been BEFORE Indy.
