Fannish Items of Interest

Another clip from X-Men: First Class has been released—this one shows Beast revealing what his mutant power is, after he’s been outed by a certain telepath.

Jonny Lee Miller will play Roger Collins. Follow the link, and you’ll find a synopsis for some of what goes on in the movie. I don't particularly care for that bit of casting.

The Rifftrax Live shows for House on Haunted Hill and Reefer Madness are now available on DVD--the Blu-Ray will come out on July 19th.

Stephen Fry has been cast in The Hobbit.

Syfy has picked up Lost Girl, according to SFX’s Thursday Link-A-Mania post. I suspect it will be butchered.

The Ladder 8 firehall--used in Ghostbusters--is one of twenty fire stations slated to close, due to budget cuts.

Thanks to the forum for That Guy With The Glasses, I now know that Ron Jeremy was spotted in the first Ghostbusters movie. I find it strange that I never heard of this before now.

From Cracked: The 6 Creepiest Gifts Ever.

Io9 has a chart that tells what type of natural disaster is most likely to kill you, depending on where you live in America. The largest percentage for Kentucky is Other, followed by tornadoes, lightning, and severe weather. Sounds about right.

I just logged into Trek BBS for the first time in years—really just to see if I could remember my password. One password reset (since I couldn’t remember) later, I’m surprised my account wasn’t pruned, what with the lack of activity for that length of time.

I'm disappointed Stephen Fry's not voicing Smaug...

That is a pity. (Though after his performance as not-Greg House, maybe they could employ Michael Sheen to do the v/o? He was A Bit Good.)

Mind you, I think it'll be a good role for Fry to get his teeth into; a bit civil-servanty, sceptical, a wee bit greedy...

Oh I've no doubt Stephen Fry will be good in his role - I just immediately assumed he'd be voicing Smaug - not sure why!

And yes, Michael Sheen would also be good in the role of Smaug.
