Fannish Items of Interest
Books-a-Million is following the lead of Barnes and Noble, and removing graphic novels from the shelves. Since they’re the only bookstore (no comic stores, aside from the short-lived one in a tattoo parlor, I do believe—and an old one that smells of smoke, mildew, and pot on all their merchandise) around here, I’m understandably not pleased. If I have to get something that they no longer carry, I’ll go to Amazon.
Syfy has renewed Haven for a third season.
Ringer gets a full season order.
whedonesque discusses it here.
New posters for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
New York Comic Con preview for Saturday’s activities.
Complex has their list of The 50 Scariest TV Shows Of All Time. Buffy, Dark Shadows, Eerie Indiana, and Are You Afraid of the Dark are a few of the ones that made the list. Some I disagree with, some I’ve never heard of—like Dead At 21—but it’s interesting.
In other news, from now on when I go outside I’ll probably have to remember to change into long pants and long sleeves or a jacket, even if it’s warm. I’m a mosquito magnet, no matter what I try. Two days ago, I went to check Toby, and came back with two or three mosquito bites. I’m fine. Elsewhere—either this county or barely one over, however, same time I was out, a guy was mowing. Also bitten by a mosquito. Suddenly developed a fever, and a few other problems. End of the day, he’s dead of West Nile Virus. His is a rare case, since the cases that went around in 2009 didn't kill anyone. Still, I'm not taking any chances.

Mosquitoes are evil little buggers. I've heard that they are especially attracted to people who eat bananas, people with low vitamin B, people with thin skin, people with type O blood, and tall people.

I'm amused by that theory, since I'm short, don't eat bananas, seem to have normal vitamin B levels thanks to a multivitamin, I assume I have regular skin, and I'm A positive for blood. (Meaning in the Doctor Who universe I would have been on the roof during The Christmas Invasion) They just come from miles around to eat me.
