From what I understood from reading the faq on the Open Doors archive move is that the comments can come with the stories. The downside I heard was if the author has already posted at AO3 and has received comments there. You can have one set, the other set or both if you keep both versions of the story, but you can't merge the comments. Could be wrong.

I'm really kind of uncomfortable with the idea that they're moving whole archives over to the Ao3, whether they can get in contact with the individual authors for consent or not....and then if or when the author finds out about it, they can request to have the story removed. Haven't we had the opt in conversation with LJ enough?

I've taken down most of my fanfic from public posting....I really don't want to do that with my X men fic at the Pit, since Kitty/Piotr is kind of a rarepair, but this has me seriously considering it.
