The Company of Wolves and Little Otik are both really good in their own ways. They are also both pretty whack in a lot of ways too. I really recommend reading the book that The Company of Wolves pulls from, which is The Bloody Chamber and Other Tales by Angela Carter if you haven't already read it. I would have added that as well as The Rose and the Beast: Fairy Tales Retold by Francesa Lia Block to the ReTold Must Read list. Especially The Bloody Chamber as it predates a number of those.

The insanity of them is probably why they sound good to me. I saw the movie box art (wolf climbing out of a guy's mouth) for The Company of Wolves for a moment (the movie itself had been stolen) in the horror section when I was 7, been interested in tracking it down ever since.

And thank you for the recs. I don't believe I've read The Bloody Chamber just yet.
