Dennis “Denny” O’Neil passed away last night, at the age of 81, reportedly due to natural causes. May he rest in peace. As one of the sites I linked to states, his work “included writing Batman, Detective Comics, and Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight, as well as editing DC’s Batman titles from 1986 to 2000.”

I just checked to confirm: he also wrote the novelization for Batman Knightfall, as well as ones for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. He co-wrote two episodes of Batman: The Animated Series: The Demon’s Quest: Part 1, and Part 2. There were so many wonderful installments in the mythos of Batman that he managed to write over the decades. He will be greatly missed.

Benjamin Melniker has passed away at the age of 104. May he rest in peace. He had connections to pretty much every single Batman related film, animated or not, starting in 1989, and going through 2017’s Justice League. He was also the associate producer for National Treasure (2004); he was a producer for the Swamp Thing films, as well as an associate producer for the tv series from 1990.

Paul De Meo passed away yesterday. May he rest in peace. He was a co-creator for the 1990 Flash tv series, and co-wrote The Rocketeer (1991), and the Trancer films.

Adam West has passed away at the age of 88, following a battle with leukemia. May he rest in peace. He will be deeply missed. I absolutely loved the 60’s version of Batman so much when I was little and it was in reruns on The Family Channel. It should be on Me-TV sometime tonight. It was always great to see him pop up on other shows or films.

For MST3K fans, he was also in Zombie Nightmare and hosted Comedy Central’s 1994 MST3K Turkey Day Marathon. I remember he was also the principal on The Adventures of Pete And Pete.

(As I don’t have any icons of the Adam West version of Batman, have an icon of Batman and Wonder Woman holding hands.)

Bernie Wrightson has passed away at the age of 68, following a battle with brain cancer. May he rest in peace. His work looked familiar to me; I eventually realized that he did the illustration/concept design for the original Ghostbusters (1984). It was featured in the book Making Ghostbusters.

And if anyone out there desires to get a look at Making Ghostbusters, and can’t locate a physical copy, (it tends to be rare, or ridiculously expensive) you can download a pdf copy over at Spook Central. It’s the third book featured on the page—right click and download the full book pdf.

After a quick perusal of his Wikipedia page, I see that I’ve also seen his work in Batman: The Cult, Batman/Aliens, and Heroes For Hope: Starring The X-Men #1 (he worked on three pages). I never knew about his comic book adaptation of Frankenstein until now.

Yvonne Craig has passed away at the age of 78, following a battle with breast cancer, which metastasized to her liver. May she rest in peace. She will be remembered by most as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl in the Adam West series of Batman.

I’ll have to wait and see if Me-TV ends up airing a few of her better episodes from Batman and the one from Star Trek this Saturday—it’s what they did when Nimoy passed away.
