Yesterday, I went to church, and very few people were actually there. The preacher included in the church bulletin how things were originally done in the 1700's. I remember only a few of the customs.
-People were there from morning til night, for the service.
-They had to say "Amen" throughout the service, whether the sermon was ongoing or not.
-They stood through the entire service.
-The men sat on one side of the room, while women sat on the other.
There were others, but I can't remember them. It seemed like an odd custom, to stand all day long.
Also, later that evening, the fireworks started. I looked out the window for 2 minutes, but they had stopped everytime I looked. I went to bed, heard the fireworks, got up and they stopped. That's just my luck. :)
