Yesterday, around 12:15 PM, Dad went over to my grandmother’s old house to check on things, and get any mail he needed to--everything seemed fine. At 2:15 PM, a neighbor from there called, to tell him that a water main or something had exploded in the front lawn on the house, the water meter was going berserk, and water was everywhere. The front deck was partially underwater.

After quite a bit of insanity went on, they got the water turned off, but he’ll probably be paying an outrageous water bill this month unless he can get to the water department in time. It turns out the pipes were put in back in 1953, so it was just their time to go, I guess. In a little while, he’ll have to get the water company (or just a good plumber) to dig up that front yard, and replace all the pipes from the house to the street.
