Fannish Items of Interest
May. 13th, 2009 11:35 amFor those interested, it looks the second season of the BBC series Survivors will be delayed—BBC executives think it’s too close to reality because of swine flu. I’ve never watched the show, but I know that some on my friends list did.
BBC America has confirmed that they will air Torchwood’s special (Children of Earth) in July.
slipjig is taking nominations for the worst movie ever.
Stumbled across someone else (Erin Chambers—ignore the extra smiley icons and look at when she’s upset, and looking younger) who could possibly work for Rahne--so rather than starting the poll over again, I’ve edited in links to those icons--and if you think she could work, head for the poll and vote Other. I’ll extend the poll’s deadline to Friday morning. I also found a couple more links to icons of a redheaded Georgia Moffett, so I’ve added those over there, too.
And, lastly, something I just told
seandc about and had to share, because it’s just insane.
A while back, Borders said they didn’t want people doing special orders to have their orders come to the store around here--just to the house? Well, because Mom stopped doing special orders, apparently profits plummeted drastically. So this morning a head manager came to the store, and asked why--I assume he was thinking nobody showed up anymore, so the store needed to close.
They explained that Mom stopped getting special orders, since she didn’t need to come as much anymore. And they said they had told him that would happen, but nobody listened. So because of such a drastic drop, they said they will now make an exception to the rule. Mom can call in orders, and they will arrive at the store. She doesn’t need to use some sort of special card to get it mailed to her anymore. This will only be done for our family, since we apparently kept them (just this store, presumably) afloat single-handedly for over 20 years, and they didn’t realize it (except for the day-to-day workers) until now. *laughs*
Mom’s getting out her six-page list of books she needs, as we speak.
