Friday the 13th
Aug. 13th, 2010 02:00 pmI doubt Friday the 13th was the cause, but it's still been a very odd day.
First, Mom and I (while Dad and my sister are out of town) planned to go out to eat now, rather than my birthday—preferably around 11 AM. Since things never go well on the 17th. This didn’t happen for a couple reasons.
1. Sudden power outage that lasted from 10:15 AM, until...1:40 PM, I believe it was. Only on our street. Not great timing, since the temperature went back up to 105. Because of something weird going wrong when we tried to lock up (leading to us locking from the inside, rather than outside-—whatever was wrong is fixed now) and leave, we had to go out the back door, through the garage and out the door there, through the back yard in this heat, out the gate, all the way around the house, and to the driveway and car. Realized we forgot the tea if we were thirsty, and so Mom went back and around all over again.
With a slight stomach bug--the other reason I mentioned, and all I will say is no vomiting was involved--that's one interesting trek.
Getting over to the other house to survive the heat was interesting, given that someone had a wreck in front of the road we needed to use. So we sat there for a little while. Probably 10 minutes before they cleared enough out of the way for us to get through.
Needless to say, after all that nobody's interested in going out to eat.
