For those that are interested in this sort of thing, the apocalypse was supposedly moved up—May 21st of this year. I’ll probably be watching Doctor Who on that day, since it’s a Saturday. Armageddon can just wait until the episode’s finished. Meanwhile, 1,000 dead birds fell from the sky, and 100,000 dead fish washed ashore in Arkansas. The best theories on the cause were over at Gawker—either something to do with the New Madrid fault acting up or a chemical plant issue.
I doubt lightning struck the fish underwater. That was one of the more official theories for the birds. My first response to the whole thing was a mix of this scene in Ghostbusters, and this scene in Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy.
Anne Francis has passed away, at the age of 80, due to complications from pancreatic cancer. May she rest in peace. She was Leslie Nielson’s co-star in Forbidden Planet, as well as the star of the series Honey West.
Pete Postlethwaite has also passed away, at the age of 64, due to cancer. May he rest in peace.
