Another TV Down
Dec. 18th, 2011 02:14 pmA very old tv that I have in my room finally died. Touched the power button this morning, and heard a noise akin to a bug zapper going off. It never came on again, so after a game of musical monitors to see what fit, Dad gave up and got a new (soon to be an out of fashion one, since there's a newer model out there) one. Since it's the same model as the one I'm using for my computer monitor, things get funny when I try to turn up the volume with the same model of remote.
My way around this is to briefly turn the monitor off while I fiddle with the settings there.
There's one tv left that hasn't died, which I knew we'd had at least since my high school days, back in the 1990's. We weren't sure how old it was, just that it was from RCA...which Wikipedia says went out of business in 1986. So it's lasted since then, and we're waiting for that one to finally die. When that happens, we'll figure out where to put the VCR.
Yes, we do need to step all the way into the 21st century.
