Bob Anderson has passed away, at the age of 89. May he rest in peace. He was the Swordmaster for the Lord of the Rings—and the upcoming The Hobbit—The Princess Bride, The Three Musketeers (1993), and First Knight. He was also the Swordsmaster for the first Highlander movie, and twenty-eight episodes of Highlander: The Series. He worked as the stunt double for Darth Vader in Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, and was a fighting guard in the Doctor Who serial The Enemy of the World.

A Beginner’s Guide To The Sherlock BBC Fandom—2nd Edition. I’ve watched Sherlock: A Scandal In Belgravia, by the way—without spoiling anything (although, there may eventually be spoilers in the comments if there are any, so be aware of that) for those that haven’t seen it, I loved it. Especially what Sherlock did about the intruder. Plus, the sheet moment. Irene Adler was surprisingly well done. It was worth the wait.

The next movie for Svengoolie is The Deadly Mantis.

The Fandom Snowflake Challenge. I might attempt to participate in the first portion of the challenge later.

The Not Prime Time (Fandoms) Exchange goes from April through July. It’s for fandoms that are too large for Yuletide, while not being gigantic.

From Cracked: 5 Characters Who Totally Missed The Moral of Their Own Movie. #1. is Doc, from Back to the Future.

New Avengers poster.

Chris Claremont talks about the future—for him and for comics.

In the last few days, I have managed to watch: Girlfriend From Hell, Innocent Blood, Biggles: Adventures In Time, and Return of the Living Dead--and something from 1992 called Ghostwatch. With that first one, I vaguely liked it—I had been wanting to watch it since I was 7 or 8. Aside from the one moment seared into my brain where people teleport into a topless bar, complete with a stripper that bears a striking likeness to one Jackie Tyler. Which just makes this icon all the more appropriate, I have to say. (And slightly awkward, as Mom passed through at that moment, and asked if the topless lady was her--IMDB says no.)

I loved Innocent Blood, and have now put it on the list of possible things to request in Yuletide next time around. I already have a Fright Night prompt.

Beginning at 1:45 PM, Encore will show all three Poltergeist movies. I plan on watching, having never seen the second or third, and only the first chopped to bits on AMC in October.

Oh, and a question regarding Dreamwidth. I imported over the contents of my LJ several months back. If I tried to do so again, would it make duplicates of what’s already there, or would it simply pick up with the last new thing?

ETA: Dreamwidth question answered--thank you!

Title: The Nosferatu Effect
Author: [personal profile] calliopes_pen
Rating: PG
Pairing: None
Fandom: My Best Friend Is A Vampire
Word Count: 3206
Author’s Notes: This fanfic was written for [personal profile] apocalypsos/Trollprincess, for [community profile] yuletide. The following is the prompt: “It's over twenty years since the events of the film. Has Jeremy finally gotten around to reading that book? Has he become a better vampire? And what happens when he runs into the Professor after all this time?” A huge thanks go out to SeanDC, [personal profile] persiflage_1, and [personal profile] liliaeth for beta reading. The title is a reference to both the shadow effect the two played with, as well as how vampire hunters have just seen too many movies featuring evil vampires.
Summary: Twenty-five years after the events of the movie, the Professor and Jeremy have a peaceful reunion in the cemetery where the former was turned, to share a few bottles of blood and catch up on things.

Jeremy, ‘the Professor’ was an affectation—a title I bestowed upon myself to strike fear in my foes and appear…threatening. It was more of a nickname that Grimsdyke ran with. )
