Antivirus Recommendations?
Apr. 19th, 2013 05:49 pmI had planned to post this back in March, but then life took a sharp turn. I forgot until a recent reminder e-mail from PC Tools. So while I'm home for tonight, I'll go ahead and post this question. I'll try to get back to any responses early tomorrow morning or late evening, unless there's an emergency.
My PC Tools Internet Security (firewall and intelliguard being the main pluses from them, as they've proven themselves multiple times): My subscription runs out in July--it is also being retired on May 18th (but will apparently be updated for me until July) as a whole, according to what I'm reading now. It was getting to be a little too expensive for me, anyway--I hadn't been planning on renewing it when it ran out, as it had imploded on me a handful of times in the last few months.
My question is this: What are some antivirus people on my friends list would recommend? Back in February, when I had more time to look up other options, I caught various mentions of Avira and Avast being given a thumbs up. Would these be recommended by my friends list?
Please don't suggest Malwarebytes--I tried, but it had installation issues. Something about ieframe.dll not being right, when (I tested it, spent time uninstalling and reinstalling IE at one point) it's fine. I never found a solution or workaround for that detail.
Something to keep in mind--I use Windows XP Office. It is very finicky in regards to compatability. A huge thanks to my friends list in advance.
