Is there anything you regret writing?
Fools In Love, written for Yuletide in 2006, for Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. And I wouldn’t say that I regret writing it, more that I wince at how genuinely bad it was in retrospect. As I told Sean, if I hadn’t tried Yuletide in 2006, I wouldn’t have kept on going with it. So I can’t completely regret writing it. It’s more a fanfic I wrote where I really, really dislike the results.
Several drabbles I did long ago weren't good by any means, and borderline RPG more than anything else, since it was answering prompts in character. They most likely will never be put on Ao3. Though if I hadn’t done those, I wouldn’t have fallen into the rabbit hole of RPG’s. There was also Creatures of the Night, involving sex pollen in the Batman fandom (off panel, mind you; Dick Grayson walks in on Tim Drake/Rose Wilson…it was for a ficathon). I learned I wasn’t adept with sex pollen scenarios and avoided that trope following that. I also learned (from that, and Yes, Virginia, There Is A Martian Manhunter) that I am better off not writing for either the Batman comics fandom or JLU.
There is also the Doctor Who story called The Dark Rider that I wrote, after Donna was announced as a companion for season 4 of Doctor Who, but before any of her episodes aired, and before we saw how great she would be. I halfway regret that one. It was completely out of character, from what I recall. I mostly mildly regret not waiting until some of her episodes had actually aired, so I could have at least been able to get her characterization right.
