Hurricane Katrina Related

Dad finally was able to reach family in Louisiana. The hurricane did not destroy everything where they were, thankfully. The only problem was the phone was out for about a couple of days. (Explains why Dad couldn't reach them for 2 days.)

Also: Apparently, one of their local Wal-Marts has been turned into a shelter for 9,000 refugees. And a local school is doing the same for a few hundred in their gymnasium down there. According to her, a lot of kids are being accepted into the school systems--despite the fact that they don't have school records for them. Of course they don't--everything was destroyed.
