Okay, after the mess with a few tornadoes during the night, I’ve survived. Let’s hope this doesn’t turn into that time where there were tornadoes every night at midnight for a week, and the sky turned green at a certain time to forecast it.
There were tornado watches and warnings all over the place, but since 9 PM rolled around and it was just rain, we went to bed. At 9:20 the sirens started, and they lasted until around 9:35 or 9:40.
Checking The Weather Channel, I also found out that a mall I used to go to whenever I was in Memphis was completely destroyed. As in there is nothing left but a huge pile of bricks. *checks notes* It was the Hickory Ridge Mall.
And the Memphis airport took a beating, from what I’ve heard. I think they said it was either partly or completely destroyed—and that the winds were so strong that it lifted a (turned off) 737 off the ground and moved it a foot and a half away.
In total, as of this writing, there are a grand total of 32 dead in Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky. And I think the tornado is still in Alabama.
If anyone on my friends list had to deal with these tornadoes, or is dealing with them, you have my sympathies. Try to stay safe.
