Cat Update
Oct. 16th, 2009 12:55 pmYesterday evening, the cat wasn't acting right. She could barely walk, and didn't want to eat. Her breathing seemed weird, too. She was worse this morning, but she was supposed to go to the vet anyway around noon.
She really wasn't doing so good at all and didn't want food, so Dad got her an insulin shot even if she hadn't eaten, and took her to the vet around 8:45.
Turns out she does have a tiny bit of fluid in her lungs, which explained the weird breathing. So she's back on the water pill. The vet said the rest sounded like something to do with her diabetes, and she could have been near a diabetic coma--so it's good he gave her the insulin shot. No idea what her glucose was prior to the shot, but according to the tests, it was 394. (Anyone confused: it should be between 71-159)
Last time we went it was 553, so it's down a bit. Since she tends to be odd sometimes in the evenings, we're going to be doing one shot in the morning, and one in the evening.
Her blood pressure was 151/129--we have no idea if that's good or not, but the vet didn't say anything about it. Her weight is back to normal, at 10 lbs, 6 ounces.
After Dad brought her back home, she ate three plates of tuna, and seems more alert.
