Nashville's Flooded
May. 2nd, 2010 04:58 pmI'll post a review of Flesh and Stone another time--for now, I only have dial-up. The reason? Nashville is currently flooded. Part of I-24 (which eventually comes through here if you keep to the interstate--I've used that part a few times in the past) in Nashville has apparently washed away entirely.
As I'm not on my own computer, I can't link (since I don't have it with me right now) to the pictures of that in an article I found this morning. Somewhere around that area of the interstate--or maybe just that part of Nashville--is the server that gave our area a high-speed internet connection. Which means that it's probably washed away or been fried by now.
And if anyone on my friends list is in the area that's been beaten up by these storms/tornadoes/flooding and is dealing with all of it, my sympathies go out to you. And please try to stay safe, as I keep hearing on the news that you're due for another round.
So I'm at the other house, using the insanely slow dial-up connection there. It took me 45 minutes just to get to the LJ posting page. I'll let everyone know when it's back.
Comcast has over 1000 customers phoning in, clogging the lines. They're working on figuring something out.
Dad just looked over my shoulder, and says to post that "Yes, we are alive. We haven't blown away yet." We had high winds during the night, apparently some hail, and an extremely severe thunderstorm. Turns out it was just 2-3 inches of rain, and Nashville got what we were supposed to with tornadoes. More thunderstorms might come tonight, but they aren't sure.
