The trailer for The Woman In Black. Not a fan of Daniel Radcliffe, but it looks nice and creepy. Is the original worth tracking down?

Two clips from Let’s Kill Hitler.

Listen to Roddy McDowell as Peter Vincent and Chris Sarandon as Jerry from Fright Night, singing a duet of Amy, Awake.

Today’s Dimestore Dames focuses on Kitty Pryde. It was actually Kitty that got me interested in comics—I believe my first issue of Uncanny X-Men was the one where she found Lockheed on the Brood homeworld. I was 2, meaning I’ve been both a Kitty Pryde fan as well as an X-Men fan for 28 years.

A fan tells how he is creating the Indiana Jones World Map.

For Rifftrax Live, at the theater I went to we had a grand total of 6 people—and that’s counting me, and counting Dad. Having a brain fried from attempting to tackle a strange computer issue for over 7 hours (involved a Windows Update gone wrong, and something with Spyware Doctor, seems to be fixed as of yesterday evening--periodic breaks for logging saved my sanity) is not particularly conducive to enjoying either the experience or a birthday as a whole, but it was quite nice. Satellite News has a place for detailing your experiences here.

SFX interviews Russell T. Davies—expect spoilers for Torchwood: Miracle Day littered throughout. Also, here’s a new promo video for the show.

A very short trailer for the second half of season 6 for Doctor Who.

A new Fright Night trailer—this one has more of David Tennant.

Io9 interviews Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, and three producers of Doctor Who—Matt Smith explains how he would play an evil version of the Doctor.

And just passing on a meme, that's been floating around my IJ friends list:

In the style of those old cracky Marvel comics, pose a hypothetical question about one of my characters (past or present) and I will babble on about what that would have been like.

A Captain Picard Wedding Cake.

There are reports that Chris Sarandon will have a cameo in the remake of Fright Night.

The newest season of V has been trimmed from 13 episodes, down to 10.

Watch a spoof of Back to the Future, with Doc freaking out because the future in Back to the Future Part 2 isn’t coming to pass.

5 Great Moments From Spike TV’s Scream Awards. It includes footage of Bill Murray showing up fully dressed in Ghostbusters garb to accept an award for Zombieland and thanking all the comics who died before him. Also, a very short clip of the Back to the Future reunion.

Today is the last day for fandom nominations for Yuletide. As of this moment, there are 4295 fandoms listed.

Elvira spoofs the “I’m not a witch” commercial. Sadly, none of the channels around here are showing her revival of Elvira’s Movie Macabre.

I just found out that Maiden Alley Cinema will be showing one horror movie this year. On October 29th and 30th, they will be showing The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Now, every other year, it’s been shown around 11 PM. This year? On the 29th, it’s at 9 PM, and the 30th, it’s being shown at 7 PM--so I might be able to go to that last one. So if things work out, I’ll be going to the Zombie Walk, followed by The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Which Dad knows nothing about, so I get to scar him for life.

Although, if I followed the Zombie Walk people to the restaurant they're headed for, I might catch a special showing of Dawn of the Dead in the meeting room. I just think they’re underestimating the number of people that will be squeezed in there. Last year, when Maiden Alley Cinema hosted it, they expected 20 or 30. What they got was probably 200 or 300. Since more people know about it this year, there will likely be more.

And 30 minutes before the Zombie Walk begins, there will be a seminar for learning how to survive a zombie attack.

ETA: Just changed my Yuletide fandom nominations again. Now, it's My Best Friend Is A Vampire, The Librarian series of movies, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Dark Shadows (1991), and the original Fright Night. Unfortunately, this causes Randall and Hopkirk (the 2000 version) to not be listed at all--so if someone wants to add that, you'll have to get it in there before 8 PM CST.

Topless Robot had a contest: Things Doctor Doom Would Say While Riding A Unicorn. The winners are here, for those interested.

ThinkGeek has Stay Puft Caffeinated Marshmallows. If I liked marshmallows, I would probably get it.

Behold: The Star Trek Pizza Cutter. It’s shaped like the NCC-1701.

Io9 lists the Most Frustrating TV Shows Canceled On A Cliffhanger. The 90’s version of Dark Shadows is listed, along with Lois and Clark, Forever Knight, Farscape, Pushing Daisies, Angel, and quite a few others.

The 12 Greatest Nerd Roles Of Roddy McDowell.

Warren Ellis and others react to the news of Wildstorm closing its doors.

Emily Montague has been added to the remake of Fright Night.

Dalek Attends Doctor Who Themed Wedding--No Humans Were Exterminated During The Ceremony.

Blockbuster movies and their bargain basement equivalents. Including Mac and Me. Given that I loathe E.T. with the passion of a thousand fiery suns, I would have to say I prefer Mac and Me. Only for mocking, mind you.

Topless Robot found an interview with Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford, shortly before the release of The Empire Strikes Back.

7 of Movies’ Most Murderous Things. Death Bed: The Bed That Eats was not included, although it is mentioned in the comments.

[personal profile] spook_me sign-ups start in September. I think I’ll sign-up this year, with Doctor Who/Ghostbusters as the fandom--same time frame as the other crossover I wrote. The Doctor and the Ghostbusters can deal with whatever creature or scenario I happen to get assigned.

A BBC radio advert for The Big Bang—the season finale of Doctor Who. It’s not really anything new, though. It sounds as though it’s just the final few seconds or so of The Pandorica Opens. You can watch Matt Smith’s introduction of the episode here. No need to worry about spoilers, since he remains vague about what’s in store.

The 10 Best And Most Memorable 80’s Cartoon Themes.

The TARDIS (Ninth Doctor era) is up for auction. It’s expected to bring in around $18,000.

Imogen Poots is in the remake of Fright Night. Going by how they say she’s Charlie’s popular girlfriend that didn’t know Charlie used to be a geek? I’d say they’re going as far from the original as they possibly can, but they were already doing that when they made Peter Vincent a Las Vegas magician.

Voting for the Finish-A-Thon is now open. If you are participating you can vote for two prompts in each poll. If you aren’t, only one. Please go here to vote for which story I should write. Follow their tag of finishathon:2010:voting to find and vote in the other polls. I have prompts that are Doctor Who, Doctor Who/Ghostbusters, and Doctor Who/Highlander. The poll is open until Friday.

8 of Professor Xavier’s Biggest Jerk Moves

A script review of the new Fright Night. Even with David Tennant as the updated version of Peter Vincent, I can’t see this working.

Another casting rumor for X-Men: First Class—this one is that Rosamund Pike could be playing Emma Frost. As I’ve never seen the actress in anything, I don’t know if this would be a good pick or not.

RTD gives an interview about season 4 of Torchwood.

David Tennant is joining the remake of Fright Night. He’s going to play the role of Peter Vincent, originally played by Roddy McDowell. That just might work. Unfortunately, Peter Vincent’s not a horror host anymore—he’s a magician in Las Vegas.

Anton Yelchin will be in the remake of Fright Night. I love the original, so I’m probably not going anywhere near the remake.

Meanwhile, Toxic Avenger is getting a family friendly remake.

The University of Hertfordshire, in England, is offering an MA in Vampire Literature. You can study both vampire movies, and vampire stories. I would hope vampire tv shows would be involved, too. That sounds like a degree I would have a lot of fun with.
