May. 10th, 2012 01:19 pmGeorge Murdock, Jr. passed away on April 30th, at the age of 81. The long-time character actor will be familiar to Star Trek fans as God in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, as well as Admiral J. P. Hanson in TNG’s The Best of Both Worlds. According to IMDB, he was a preacher in an episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day. May he rest in peace.

Dec. 14th, 2010 03:43 pmFrom Cracked: 6 Bizarre Ways Architecture Is Designed To Ward Off Ghosts.
Firestarter is being remade.
Mekhi Phifer will be joining Torchwood.
SFX has about 3 minutes worth of clips and interviews from the US version of Being Human. While I still think the UK version would be vastly superior to this, I’ll watch the first episode to see what they’ve done with Annie’s character. Or Sally, as they’ve changed her name to.
Three short clips for the Doctor Who Christmas special have been released. Clip #1. Clip #2. Clip #3. And then, you can watch a brief segment where Matt Smith discusses the special.
When I watched the episode of Forever Knight called Dead Air, I kept thinking someone’s voice sounded very, very familiar. Seeing that it’s a young Rodney McKay from Stargate: Atlantis in the role of a killer is just plain weird. Of course, since Dr. Weir is in one episode, and Teyla’s in another, (Hunters) it’s starting to feel like everyone got their start here. I’m also amused by the fact that before a few of the flashbacks, you get nearly the same noise as you get when they sense other Immortals on Highlander: The Series.

Forever Knight
Dec. 11th, 2010 04:00 pmI've been watching Forever Knight over on Youtube. As of now, I just finished episode 4--I do believe I'm hooked. I'll start on Dance By The Light Of The Moon in just a few minutes.
It was interesting to the lady who would become Dr. Weir from Stargate: Atlantis in an episode, though. (After a quick check, found her name: Torri Higginson)
Long ago, I was spoiled for how the series ended. At least I won't be surprised by how all that turns out.
Can anyone recommend any good LJ groups devoted to the show? I'm not looking for fanfic just yet, but recs would be lovely for when the craving finally hits.

Dec. 3rd, 2010 10:01 amIo9 lists “30 DVD sets that will make the new year bright.”
Watch Craig Ferguson’s musical tribute to the Doctor. It’s great. I’ve never watched Ferguson’s show, so I wasn’t aware Matt Smith was there until now.
The 13 Best MST3K Songs.
Meanwhile, I’m making a list of all the shows I need to try to find and watch online and see if I like. I’m going to try to do this before next year’s Yuletide. So far the list is: Wonderfalls, Farscape, Due South, The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne, Point Pleasant, Big Wolf on Campus, Poltergeist: The Legacy. Possibly Misfits and The Vampire Diaries, although I'm not entirely sure. I don’t need to bother trying to track down Moonlight or The Sentinel, since Syfy has marathons periodically. (Can't stand the lead in the latter.) Any ideas for anything else to add to the list? I found downloads of Lost Girl yesterday. The first episode appears to be good, so I’ll watch the second in a little while.
I finally found Forever Knight in a format that isn’t divided into chunks. Each episode in its entirety has been put on Youtube. If anyone is interested, you can find them here. It’s just the first two seasons, since they don’t seem to have added season 3 yet. I’ll see if I can catch up that way by next year.
I went ahead and ordered the entire series of both She-Wolf of London and the 90’s revival of Dark Shadows from Amazon, since it had proven impossible to find a download of She-Wolf anywhere. Dark Shadows was usually $39.98. Today, it’s $9.99. I don’t know how long that will last. Once I have both, I won’t need to worry about finding copies of either when Yuletide rolls around next year.
Oh, and something I needed to ask my friends list. Does anyone know of any good horror movie guides? I have a couple really good ones, but they only go up to 1999. I haven’t found any since then.
