Rest In Peace, René Auberjonois
Dec. 9th, 2019 09:15 amRené Auberjonois has passed away, at the age of 79, following a battle with metastatic lung cancer. May he rest in peace. While I didn’t watch much of it, I still think of him as Odo first and foremost, whenever I hear his name.
It was only within the last few years that I watched Benson for the first time on Antenna TV, and I enjoyed his role as Clayton Runnymede Endicott III. Within the last few months I dared to watch the abysmal Broadway version of Tanz Der Vampire (Dance of the Vampires, over here if you feel like you want to watch) on Youtube. He was fantastic as Professor Abronsius; really, he (as well as Max Von Essen, as Alfred) was one of the only good things in that adaptation.
I loved him as Modoc in My Best Friend Is A Vampire (1987), as well as his part as the voice of The Skull in The Last Unicorn (1982). With the latter, for years I thought he was also the singing butterfly, but no. IMDB says that was Robert Klein.
I need to track down The Dark Secret of Harvest Home (1978 miniseries). I never got around to watching it, and never knew he was in it until now.
