Apparently, there were rumors of a Captain Planet movie. They’re not true, but it would have been interesting to see just how messed up a live action movie from that cartoon would have been. Which is up there with the live action Thundercats rumor that made the rounds a few years ago. In the comments at Io9, people are now trying to think of who would work for each character.

Syfy will make their version of Alice in Wonderland more modern. Isn’t that what Tim Burton’s version is supposed to be doing, too?

And speaking of Syfy, looks like they’re being taken over by someone who was behind developing Smallville.

Livejournal was down because of a DDOS attack. I assumed it was just a glitch at first. The attack apparently caused the Writer’s Block to not appear today, albeit briefly. Whoever it was reportedly also temporarily took down Twitter and Facebook. I’ll be answering that Top 5 meme in my next post, now that I can actually get to the comments. Oh, and LJ basically just nearly drowned my e-mail in comment notifications from up to a month ago, so I’m digging through there.

Found via [community profile] torch_wood: Someone made a great Torchwood: Children of Earth Spoof. It’s hysterical and definitely worth watching. Part 1 is here. Part 2 is here.

John Hughes passed away today, at the age of 59. May he rest in peace. He was most famous for his teen movies like The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Pretty In Pink, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off; I’m not a fan of that genre so I’ve never watched them. He suffered a heart attack while going for a walk in New York. This is just a bad year for the famous.

Going by IMDB, the only movies of his that I have ever seen were Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost In New York. Oh, and part of Weird Science—but I preferred the series, rather than the movie.
