If anyone happened to see that they suddenly had a new web extension while they were using Firefox, called Looking Glass—which you quite likely never installed in the first place—here is the reason why. It isn’t malware. Mozilla just felt like putting it into the browser for anyone that had their preferences checked for “allow Firefox to install and run studies.” I just looked and I had it installed and the box checked. I have uninstalled the extension and unchecked the box.

It’s some kind of tie-in with a show named Mr. Robot. I had no interest in watching before, even when I had cable. I most certainly have no inclination to give it a view now.

Oh, and be certain to follow the instructions for what to do in about:config, which are mentioned in the comment by someone named 42. If it goes missing, app.shield.optoutstudies.enabled should be set to false; extensions.shield-recipe-client.enabled should also be set to false.

Looking Glass only appeared for me today.

We’re getting 50 mph winds here, so I’m posting this in between it knocking out the internet. It’s reportedly going to be finished somewhere around 3 or 4 PM. It's caused the power to flicker here, and the lady that owns the used bookstore says it went out completely at her house, and caused a wreck nearby--at least, judging by the four ambulances and police car she spotted.

A man has built a life-size Dalek. It can be moved via remote control, and cost him about $1149 to make. Let us all hope he doesn’t turn into Davros.

While I don’t watch the show, this is for anyone on my friends list that does. As The World Turns has been cancelled. However, it will last until September of 2010.

You can read an interview of Bradley James and Anthony Stewart Head here.

Top 10 Science Fiction Disappointments of the Past Decade. The only one I really disagree with is Superman Returns. I mostly liked it.

MST3K can now be found on Hulu.

Most Unfairly Overlooked Movies of the Decade. I loved Death at a Funeral (the one with Alan Tudyk, not the remake with Chris Rock) so I agree with that recommendation. It was hysterical.

And lastly, a meme:

If I came with a warning label, what would it say?

According to CBS, we have a tornado watch until 4 PM. Last night, we had thunderstorms, which included wind that (according to the local news a few minutes ago) went as fast as 68 mph.

There’s a certain torrent site I’m on (not naming it, since I don’t want to lock this) where you need Firefox to see some of the pages. I use IE 7, and everything’s been fine with that. Other than being able to see those pages, is Firefox worth it? And if I don’t like it for some reason, would it be relatively easy to switch back to IE? Dad mentioned you get a lot of extra junk on the page with Firefox, and that’s all he knows--would you be able to get rid of it, so the taskbar looks like IE would?

Meaning buttons relatively the same, and able to customize the command bar to get rid of everything I don’t need. I know that IE can do it, but I know nothing about Firefox. Except for the fact they have tabs.

ETA: Thank you, everyone! I've just installed it, and so far things seem to be going fine with it. I'm primarily using IE, with Firefox only when I really need it.
