If you had me under your command and could make me write anything, regardless of whether or not I know the fandom or if anybody even writes fic in that fandom for Doctor Who/Torchwood or Ghostbusters, no matter how crack-addled it might be, what would you love to see me write?

This is partly for fun, to see how weird the prompts can be. Partly because it might end up in the Finish-A-Thon polls, when I sign up in the next two hours.

A new kind of cloud formation over the Central US. I love the comments over at Io9—one person said it looked like the Fright Night poster, while another referenced Ghostbusters. Actually, one day the clouds around here went like they did when Gozer arrived. It’s never a good thing when that happens.

Four new clips have just been released for the next episode of Doctor Who.

Days of Futurama Past. Basically, Futurama characters redrawn as X-Men. I know nothing about Futurama, except that there’s a character named Bender, and a woman with one eye. However, on the X-Men front, if you look in the back right corner, you can spot the New Mutants. I recognized Illyana Rasputin, and Warlock. Meggan from Excalibur is toward the middle right.

Sign-ups for the Finish-A-Thon end tomorrow, and I’m trying to think of any ideas. I know I’ll add a possible sequel to No Proton Packs Beyond These Doors to the poll, as well as a possible sequel to A Beautiful, Pie-Filled Disaster. I need prompts for something else I could add to the poll, however, so now’s the time to throw out something weird or funny in either the Doctor Who or Ghostbusters fandoms, or a crossover between the two. Or ideas for what you might want to see in either sequel, depending on what’s picked. So here’s a poll for any suggestions. An explanation of what the Finish-A-Thon is can be found here.

Starz is going to make and air season 4 of Torchwood. It will be ten episodes, including Eve Myles and John Barrowman—and the production staff include RTD and Julie Gardner. It should be in summer 2011. I’m really not interested after Children of Earth. (Plus, we don’t have Starz, and Comcast won’t give it to us, but that’s a whole other issue.)

Requesting prompt ideas for the Finish-A-Thon over here—for some reason, I accidentally friends locked it. It’s unlocked now. If anyone's not sure what the Finish-A-Thon is, follow the tags. It should explain things.

I decided I will definitely be doing the Finish-A-Thon this time around. I’ve been digging through old ideas/prompts for what I could add to the poll for the Finish-A-Thon. A sequel to No Proton Packs Beyond These Doors—I’ll probably stick that up there for the poll, along with a sequel to A Beautiful, Pie-Filled Disaster. Since at the time I wrote that, I believe people wanted one—besides, I originally wrote it for the Finish-A-Thon in the first place.

So I’m asking my friends list to throw out some prompts in the comments. Either ideas for one of those sequels I mentioned, or something else that’s Doctor Who, or Ghostbusters/Doctor Who related. Maybe Merlin or Highlander: The Series related.

Disney is remaking Flight of the Navigator.

Apparently, Doctor Who is going to get an animated series, starring David Tennant, Georgia Moffett, and David Warner.

Found via whedonesque (I’m linking to the whedonesque post, which links to that): Vertigo Entertainment is in talks to do a Buffy movie—it would be a reboot without Joss, SMG, Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendan, or anyone else. From the sound of it, I doubt it will get very far. Another post about it can be found over at Io9.

Ghostbusters 3 news: One of Bill Murray’s conditions for returning was apparently that Winston have a larger role, to put him on equal footing with the others. It’s mentioned toward the end of the article.

ETA: Can't believe I didn't think to link to this one. Over at Io9, they linked to a trailer made by a fan, to support the idea of Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern. I assumed it would be something that wasn't that well made, but wow. The person doing the trailer did a spectacular job with the CGI, even including what looked like scenes from Castle, Firefly, Superman Returns--and, possibly, Watchmen. From Cracked: Six Superheroes Who Completely Lost Their Minds.

Editing some of the fanfic--rather than getting shorter, it just keeps on growing. As of this moment, it’s 3959 words. I’ll send it to you around tomorrow afternoon, persiflage_1.

As of right now, all that needs to be done in the fanfic is write up when the aliens get through the rift and attack, and tweak a few other little things, and I’ll be done. For the moment, I’m at 3259 words and still going.

Dollhouse may not be around for much longer. Fox keeps going back and forth on the subject.

Some news about the progress of Ghostbusters III.

And here’s something funny from ask_captainjack. Jack Harkness tells how to kill a vampire.

The fanfic is now up to 2429 words and still going strong. I mostly need to add a few things to the beginning, and the middle.

Since the baguettes keep on popping up—even going so far as to feature in a duel (mentioned in the previous post) between the Doctor and Jack—I’m thinking of changing the title from For The World Is Hollow And I Have Touched The Pie, to something else. Also, a sneak preview is behind the cut.

jblum summed up Lorne’s character and Hallett’s acting ability brilliantly over here. For anyone that wants to know how his heart condition started, read this article that someone in the comments at Whedonesque linked to. But following the sad news for the Buffyverse comes a bit of good news. Alyson Hannigan had her baby--a little girl named Satyana.

I was just friended by two journals. Both were made on the exact same day, both are friends locked, and both only contain spam. I’ve banned them from commenting here.

ETA: I see that one of those that randomly friended me has been suspended.

Harold Ramis on Ghostbusters III--apparently, it’s being written now. It can’t possibly be as good as the original. Besides, they already did the older Ghostbuster mentoring the new crowd with Extreme Ghostbusters.

I’m trying to think of possible titles for the Finish-A-Thon fanfic I’m about to start on--any suggestions would be great. Keep in mind that it’s going to involve the Doctor getting turned into a marionette, being held captive, and eventually saved by Donna, Martha, and Jack. And somehow, some sort of pie stops this type of alien. I picture the type of pie interacts with the body chemistry of the alien, stopping them dead in their tracks.

The only titles I’ve been able to come up with so far that might possibly work are: Marionettes And Baguettes (which doesn’t work, since it’s pies--unless I change it to aliens defeated by being thwapped with those things, which isn’t what people voted for; anyone want me to throw in baguettes as well as pie?), The Marionettes Are Coming For You, and The Secret of the Pie.

For reference, if anyone isn’t sure or doesn’t want to dig through the posts, this is the prompt idea:

“Donna must use pie to save the Doctor from a tiny alien race that have used a shrink ray on him and imprisoned him in their ship with other assorted animals and sentient beings. As you might expect from the summary, it would be a humor-filled story.”

And this is the expansion of it that I mentioned in another post at multific:

“Part of the shrinking of the Doctor apparently now entails him getting turned into a small marionette, similar in nature to Pinocchio.

I can just picture Jack, Martha, and Donna mocking the Doctor while breaking him out of his prison, before settling in to help him battle the aliens with the aforementioned pie.”

After I eventually finish on the Finish-A-Thon fanfic, I’ll start another poll with the other options from the Finish-A-Thon poll—because at some point, I do want to end up writing all of those prompts I had listed.

In other news, for those interested I just found out the Sci-Fi Channel will be having a Highlander marathon on Thursday--from 7 AM to 11 PM CST, I believe. It was mentioned over at Io9, and you can see the schedule here. It’s in EST.

Since I like what I’ve seen of Merlin so far, I was reading the Wikipedia entry for it--and found out there was a Children in Need special where they had to defeat a Pudsey, by locking Merlin in the stocks. Cute. If you haven’t seen it, you can watch it here. How they kept from laughing during those scenes, I’ll never know. And from what I’ve seen of the series (up to episode 8) so far, I think Merlin likes getting locked in the stocks.

And answering the cliff meme one more time--netgirl_y2k gave me Bluesuit!Doctor, Merlin, the Master. First, I would throw The Master off the cliff. Knowing him, he’ll be back later. The next two are tougher, but I guess I would sleep with Bluesuit!Doctor. Marry Merlin.

azriona gave me Willow Rosenberg, Doctor Horrible, and Joss Whedon. Marry Joss, sleep with Willow, and throw Doctor Horrible off a cliff. I feel a little bit sorry for the guy, but maybe he invented something that will keep him from getting killed.

The Cartoon Network is changing—they don’t want to show as many cartoons.

I’m in two good LJ book clubs (mythical_truth and bibliophyles, if anyone wants to join them.) The two books for April at mythical_truth are The Princess Bride and Inkheart. I’ll probably just read The Princess Bride. They’re still voting on what book they should pick over at bibliophyles, but I decided to vote for The Hound of the Baskervilles.

I’m surprised this hadn’t already been done, what with all the Doctor Who prompts over there, but I went ahead and mentioned the polls with those Finish-A-Thon prompts over in the comments at who_daily.

Holly Madison may be forced to withdraw from Dancing With The Stars following a possibly broken rib. When I first read it, I misread it as broken hip. So this is kind of better? So now the injuries are her, Steve-O with his back, Steve Wozniak with his hamstring and messed up foot, and Gilles with his separated shoulder. And Jewel and Nancy O’Dell dropping out from injuries before the show started, of course. If anyone feels like keeping track of all the injuries or the show as a whole, I recommend joining dwts.

From Cracked.com: 14 Horrifying Soft Drinks From Around The World. The only one I had heard of was Thanksgiving Dinner Soda. I remember them trying the Green Bean Casserole and Stuffing ones on Live With Regis and Kelly one year.

So far it looks like Transmetropolitan v1 is winning the poll over at noscans_daily. I voted for Fables volume 1, since I recently found volume 2 at BooksaMillion--didn’t want to read it until I found the first volume. If I were able to vote for more than one item on that poll, I would have also picked Justice League International and Kraven’s Last Hunt.

David Tennant arrives via TARDIS on Comic Relief night. This clip and one where he’s with someone from the British version of Big Brother and answering questions are all I’ve seen of him there, so far.

blognewsarama linked to the Marvel skit in the 1987 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, for those that haven’t seen it before. Starring Doctor Strange, Wolverine, Magneto, Doctor Doom, Enchantress, The Hulk, Captain America, Luke Cage, Emma Frost, Green Goblin, and Rambo. No, I’m not joking on the last bit. It must be seen to be believed--I think I also spotted Iron Man running around. They’re all fighting to the theme of Back to the Future.
