Thousands of spiders blanket an Australian farm after escaping a flood. Welcome to my nightmare. Especially since they’re all the same type that I found in the tub a while back, all the same size.

Chrome finally breached in Google’s Hackathon.

A huge coronal mass ejection slammed into Earth today. I’m so happy that someone else at Io9 (in the comments, specifically the one by mayssm) thought of Night of the Comet. Saw that for the first time a couple months ago on Logo, and it was the first thing I thought of when the news mentioned it.

10 movies with the word Terminator in the title (that are 100% unrelated to the Terminator). I watched Lady Terminator after seeing The Cinema Snob’s review of it—it’s gloriously insane if you like bad movies.

Elizabeth Blackmore and Jessica Lucas have joined the cast of the remake of The Evil Dead.

TV Tropes interviews Doug Walker, aka The Nostalgia Critic.

Toy Story meets The Shining.

A Wrinkle In Time turns 50.

Real Fear: The Truth Behind The Movies premieres on Chiller TV on March 11th.

Two new Rifftrax DVD’s are available: The Galaxy Invader and The Crater Lake Monster.

Four new images for Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows.

Aidan Quinn is joining the cast of Elementary, in the role of New York Police Department’s Captain Gregson.

The Austin Chronicle talks to Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard about The Cabin In the Woods. In the process, Goddard reveals everything about the ending of the film. So if you want to go into this film unspoiled, don’t read it. [livejournal.com profile] whedonesque discusses the article and huge plot reveal here.

Trailers From Hell talks about I Was A Teenage Werewolf.

Trailer for the next season of Community.

New tv spot for The Hunger Games.

Victorian Star Trek daguerreotypes.

Thanks to a recent Kindertrauma post about Witchery (aka Witchcraft, aka La Casa 4), I stumbled across this old format for Prevue Guide (which would eventually morph into the TV Guide Channel). From 1991. That would be back before anyone except Memphis (at least around this area) really had that channel, so I only ever saw it when we stayed at a hotel there for my sister’s eye doctor appointments. Strangely enough, I saw this exact one—makes sense, I probably would have been there watching June of 1991.

The entire history of Doctor Who in 10 minutes.

Funny Foreign Film Titles. When you go to Hong Kong, Batman And Robin becomes Come to My Cave and Wear this Rubber Codpiece, Cute Boy.

10 Biggest Time-Sinks In Science Fiction And Fantasy. I agree with Doctor Who, and especially TV Tropes.

Jonathan Frid will likely have a cameo in the new Dark Shadows movie.

Saoirse Ronan has reportedly been added to the cast of The Hobbit.

Ten Catch Phrases You Swore You’d Never Use (And When You Used Them).

I have my auction assignment from [profile] shengirl: OT3 comedy, Rose/Jack/Ninth or Tenth Doctor, with a prompt of “superheroes.” I’ll spend the weekend working on hammering out a good plot involving that after I write down various ideas.

Please tell me Rose, Jack and the Doctor running into The Tick (who’s really a confused alien that wanted to help people and thought The Green Hornet was a documentary due to a misunderstanding) is one of the bad ideas. That idea struck me last night, during a messed up dream, and I couldn’t remember it until I saw the “SPOOOOON” mention in that catch phrases list.

(Somehow I also wrote a monologue about the Doctor vainly claiming to be the exaggerated inspiration behind the mythology of Superman just to mess with everyone, along with referencing strange moments in Superman II and IV following a conversation with [personal profile] seandc.)

Den of Geek attempts to explain the timey wimey-ness of The Big Bang. They do an incredible job, too. Anyone who hasn’t seen that episode or The Pandorica Opens should avoid it. Your head will explode either way.

Yesterday, I watched part of Syfy’s marathon (this gives me flashbacks to the days when the Sci-Fi Channel was good, and had reruns of old shows) of The Greatest American Hero, as I had never seen it before. All I can say is the theme song is stuck in my head right now. All I knew before was that the character flew around in what appeared to be long underwear, wearing a cape that resembled a child’s blanket. And that he crashed into things a lot. Now I know that aliens gave him the costume, and he lost the manual for it. Possibly more than once. And then I read the TV Tropes page for it. The entry for UnCanceled is bizarre.

And a couple of memes, the first of which I thought I had already posted last week. Apparently not.

Name a character you think I ought to play and I'll talk to you about why I would or wouldn't.

Oh, and if anyone didn't get the notifications for it, (if they're still down) I've answered a couple more for the AU meme. So it's Meggan in the Buffyverse, Meggan in Doctor Who, and Meggan in Jem.

Starz is going to make and air season 4 of Torchwood. It will be ten episodes, including Eve Myles and John Barrowman—and the production staff include RTD and Julie Gardner. It should be in summer 2011. I’m really not interested after Children of Earth. (Plus, we don’t have Starz, and Comcast won’t give it to us, but that’s a whole other issue.)

Moffat is interviewed by his son.

Requesting prompt ideas for the Finish-A-Thon over here—for some reason, I accidentally friends locked it. It’s unlocked now. If anyone's not sure what the Finish-A-Thon is, follow the tags. It should explain things.

Mary Travers—from Peter, Paul, and Mary—has passed away, at the age of 72, after a battle with leukemia. I only know her because of Puff the Magic Dragon—here’s a clip of that. I used to watch that movie when I was little. May she rest in peace.

Henry Gibson (perhaps best known from Laugh-In) also passed away, also after a battle with cancer. He was 73. May he also rest in peace.

There’s another new trailer for Merlin.

Currently trying to think of a plot/idea for a fanfic using the prompts from [personal profile] spook_me. Anyone else have any ideas or requests using any one of those? Just for Doctor Who. If you missed it in all my posts yesterday, here’s a repost of what I was assigned. The creature prompt is Mad Scientist. (The Doctor has the hair for it, at least) The two secret prompts (using the covers of pulp novels) are Death Watch and Donovan’s Brain. I’m going to be digging through the TV Tropes page for Mad Scientist in a few minutes.

Edit: As I mentioned yesterday, with that link to Donovan's Brain, it keeps saying Forbidden when you click on it. However, if you cut off the url after /sf/, and then click on sfmisc, and from there click on bantam_819.jpg, you should see it.
