[community profile] yuletide sign-ups open later today. For those that want to check the updated list of fandoms without characters included, you can go here. Justice League Unlimited, and Justice League International have both been added back. This is going to be so hard to narrow down to under 30 fandoms to write, and even harder to come up with any requests at all. The latter is almost impossible for me.

Back to the Future fans recreate the “It’s the Libyans!” scene.

The 16 Worst 90s Superhero Redesigns.

I doubt this is true, just interesting. Dick Van Dyke claims that he was saved by porpoises while adrift at sea.

An old letter from 1978 shows how Kitty Pryde was almost given the codename Sparrowhawk. She was originally intended to be the first of the New Mutants—I knew that bit, but not the Sparrowhawk name.

Dino De Laurentilis has passed away at the age of 91. He was responsible for producing movies such as Danger: Diabolik, Army of Darkness, Flash Gordon, and many others. May he rest in peace.

Pushing Daisies managed to win four Emmys.

There may be a New Mutants movie in the works. No word on whether it’s the newer New Mutants, or the Illyana version. I think it’s more likely that it would just be a continuation of the other movies.

Here’s the trailer for the next episode of Merlin.

25 Biggest TV Bombs.

Gareth David-Lloyd will be playing someone (maybe Watson, but I'm not sure) in a new adaptation of Sherlock Holmes. There’s a post about it at [community profile] torch_wood, over here.

In other news, I’m thinking of what fandoms I’ll be asking for when [community profile] yuletide rolls around. I really doubt Merlin will qualify as an obscure enough fandom this year—last time around, I hadn’t discovered it yet. I’m not sure if Being Human is too big these days or not. I’ll definitely try to get The Librarian trilogy in there.

Cracked.com’s Back to the Future Timeline. Funny.

Apparently, Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern has been cast—and it’s Ryan Reynolds. I probably would have posted it sooner, but the news was buried beneath a few tons of Torchwood reviews.

And a couple fanfic recs—spoilers for Children of Earth are located in both. First, from [livejournal.com profile] ask_aboutcoffee is a funny RPG post that’s basically Ianto’s reaction to the episodes. There are a ton of comments. The other is the Doctor’s voicemail, detailing the reasons he couldn’t help, written by [livejournal.com profile] catsfiction.

How Back to the Future Almost Nuked The Fridge. An interesting article on how the movie almost went. And it was also almost titled Spaceman From Pluto. If anyone has a problem with embedded videos, there’s one there.

For those that have On Demand, they have Ghostbusters on it. It’s the unchanged version, meaning Ray doesn’t call anyone Wally Wick. Oh, also? Looks like they’ve fixed a couple things with the special effects. When Louis Tully’s eyes glow--in the tv version, it looks rather faded, and pitiful. The On Demand version? You can see it’s a bright red glow.

In other news, last night I dreamed that Illyana Rasputin turned out to be Immortal. Joe Dawson was her Watcher. She annoyed him by cheating at the Game--instead of just using a regular sword, she used a spell to freeze someone, and sent them to Limbo, or used her Soulsword. She got the Quickening that way, after demons decapitated them. Duncan thought it was cheating. Amanda was amused, and wanted to try magic sometime, to his everlasting horror. Strange crossover--interesting, but strange.

First, a meme: Who do you ship me with?

The Best Science Fiction Cliffhangers. It includes Angel, Buffy, the older Doctor Who series, as well as the newer one. And if someone out there watches Ashes to Ashes and wishes to avoid spoilers, don’t click the link. Because there’s a spoiler for the finale on the first page. I don’t watch the show. Oh, and for those interested, the [profile] whedonesque post about the list is found here.

Found this link via another forum—it’s an article on what disorders a psychiatrist would probably diagnose Illyana Rasputin with. Mostly PTSD, I would say.

From Den of Geek: The 10 Sexiest Men of Doctor Who. No incarnation of the Doctor is listed—neither is Mickey.

Eight Big 80’s Movies That Never Got Sequels—But Nearly Did.

Christopher Lee has been knighted. And for some strange reason, I thought he already had been.

So far, I have yet to fall for any of the April Fool’s pranks that I’ve seen online. Although, this one did seem feasible. And this one about Firefly being remade was kind of funny.

Over at [profile] noscans_daily, someone is looking for as many quotes from Illyana Rasputin as they can find. So I’m pointing all the Illyana fans on my friends list that way.

For those in the UK, the next Doctor Who special—Planet of the Dead—will air on April 11th. For those that haven’t seen it yet, you can watch the trailer here.

There’s an EDA (Eighth Doctor Adventures) ficathon over at [profile] henriettastreet. Sign-ups can be found here. Minimum word count is 750 words, with a due date of June 12th.
