1. That would be a strange and often boring film, punctuated by events like the ice storm and hospital visits.
2. Ellen Page, maybe.

Ask Peter Wingfield your Highlander questions in the comments of this Io9 post. In mid-August, he will answer five of them in a video on Io9. If he selects and answers the question you posted, you could win a replica katana from season 1 of Highlander. I suspect if I ended up with a katana (I won’t, as I can’t think of anything that hasn’t already been asked) I wouldn’t have any room in the house for it. And someone might inadvertently get stabbed.

I also just took an online typing test. The last time I did this a year or so ago, it was 50 words per minute. Now? 78 words per minute.

10 Nerd Actors Who Ventured Into Music…And Shouldn’t Have. Am I the only one that actually liked The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins? Not because it was good, just because of the weirdness of it all.

A woman sold two “souls” inside blue-tinted holy water. The price? $1983. The comments are great. If you can’t see them all, scroll to the bottom and hit Show All Discussions, and Expand All Replies.

There’s news on the remake of La Femme Nikita. Apparently, Maggie Q will not be in the starring role after all. The new Nikita is going to be played by Lyndsy Fonseca—the girl from How I Met Your Mother and a season of Desperate Housewives. If you click the link, beware of the Doctor Who spoilers.

Riverworld will debut in a four-hour block on April 18th. The only reason I might be interested in watching this is for Peter Wingfield. With the one made back in 2003, the only reason I watched even a little of it was for the late Kevin Smith.

By the way, I’m about to go over and order Chicks Dig Time Lords from Who North America. While I’m at the site, are there any Ninth or Tenth Doctor books people would recommend? I already have Only Human, Peacemaker, and The Doctor Trap--that last one I haven’t read. I was also going to get A Writer’s Tale while I was there, but they don’t have the reprint with the extra chapter. Is Forever Autumn worth getting? Which of the ones with Donna or Martha in them are good?

Christopher Lloyd will guest star on Chuck.

See what almost was in The End of Time Part 2—The Master…flirting with the Master in a dress.

John Barrowman sings The Doctor And I.

[community profile] dark_fest is still taking prompts until the 14th. Haven’t seen very many Highlander prompts yet.

Supposedly the villain for Ghostbusters III has been revealed. So far, I haven’t believed any of the rumors because it’s the same thing over and over, but this one is interesting. Of course, it's probably only slightly amusing for Highlander fans.

Beware the Snow Dalek. With all that snow the East Coast has been getting, I’m not surprised people could make one that well. It’s probably just a matter of time before we get Snow Cybermen or Snow Masters.

I seem to have lost interest in Being Human--I stopped around episode 2 of this season. Not sure if I’ll download the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, I apparently like White Collar now. Just for Peter and Neal, since I don’t know who anyone else is. And for the first time ever, I actually think Tiffani Amber-Thiessen is good in something.

9 Strange Things Found While Searching For Waldo. I believe I am one of the few people out there that never looked at a Where’s Waldo book. I think I assumed it was just picking him out from a line of characters, so didn’t want to bother.

In that battle between John Barrowman and Neil Patrick Harris, it looks as though Neil Patrick Harris won. And here is Barrowman’s concession speech.

Blogtor Who has more behind the scenes pictures of filming. Is that wrapping paper on the side of the TARDIS in one picture? I can’t tell.

Regarding the new logo for Doctor Who--while I’m not entirely sold on it, I’m certainly not about to stop watching the series altogether. (Yes, I’ve seen a few saying this) You can watch the logo in an ad here.

You can watch the trailer for the new K-9 spin-off here. Den of Geek discusses it here, and Sci Fi Wire here.

Syfy is apparently showing season 1 of Highlander: The Series. Unfortunately, it’s late at night.

10 TV Shows That Should Never, Ever Be Made Into Movies. The only ones on the list that I’ve heard of are Quantum Leap and Small Wonder. Thought I had seen VR.5 once before, but I was thinking of VR Troopers. Which, in turn, makes me think of Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters From Beverly Hills. In relation to the topic, those two should never be dug up and made into movies.

Original Pilot, vs. Official Pilot: Which Shows Changed The Most? The Buffy pilot with Riff Regan gets a mention. I think there was also a pilot for Charmed, where there was a different actress playing Phoebe—that’s not on the list, though. Heroes gets a mention, as apparently it was originally going to be a lot darker than it turned out to be.

Disney bought Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion. And I had a sudden image of Stan Lee cackling in an evil mastermind sort of way, while wearing the mouse ears. Not sure why.

Peter Wingfield has been cast on Caprica. I really have no interest in BSG or its spin-off of Caprica, but having Wingfield there almost makes me want to watch it. Almost.

I just found out that apparently, there might be a blogathon to raise money for the Louisville library, after so much was damaged by the flooding. Found out about it via [community profile] libraries.

From Cracked.com: 7 Iconic Characters They Saved From The Cutting Room Floor.

And lastly: Thanks to Comcast On Demand, I watched the final two episodes of season 1 for Being Human. I love the show now, and I’ll be looking for fanfic and icons.

[personal profile] invisionary gave me Top 5 Willow/Tara 'shippy moments.
1. Under Your Spell. A great scene in Once More, With Feeling.
2. The end of Family, when Willow and Tara levitate above the dance floor.
3. Season 6, the episode before Tara dies. The “Can’t you just be kissing me now?” speech.
4. The Body, when Tara gives Willow a quick kiss to console her.
5. When Willow brings Tara a candle, once Oz is gone. “Extra flamey.”

[personal profile] lafemmedarla gave me Top Five Highlander moments.
1. The whole “I was Death!” confession from Methos in Comes A Horseman. Chilling, and wonderful.
2. Methos confronting Duncan after he kills Sean during the Dark Quickening.
3. In Methuselah’s Gift, when Methos talks about how Alexa’s time is running out, before breaking down in Amanda’s arms.
4. I’m sorry, but I’m probably one of the few people that liked the scene at the racetrack with Ahriman in Archangel. The whole “I am Set…I am Ahriman. I am everything your people call demons and devils” speech. It was my first episode of Highlander, so I had to love something about that. How they wrapped it up, on the other hand, was one of the worst moments. There was a fanfic called Archangel Redeemed--that’s how it should have gone.
5. Pretty much the whole episode of Indiscretions. The interaction between Joe and Methos was great.

Pretty much all the moments I immediately thought of involved Methos. I’m not surprised.

[personal profile] jinxed_wood gave me Top five kisses in any fandom. This one is hard because I’ve probably read too much fanfic, but I’ll try—in no particular order.
1. Jack and Ianto, right before the end of part 1 of Children of Earth. An earlier one, too, but I can’t think of the episode.
2. Rose and the Ninth Doctor, in Parting of the Ways. Even if I don’t care for the pairing of Rose/Doctor, it was still a good scene.
3. Cordelia and Doyle, right before Doyle saved everyone and died in the process.
4. Jack kissing Rose and the Ninth Doctor before going off to his death (and resurrection). It was sweet and poignant.
5. Somewhere else, I saw someone mention the kiss between Gabrielle and Xena, while Xena was dead and possessing Autolycus. I agree with that one.

[profile] brewesternorth gave me Top Five Fannish Icons. This is pretty much impossible to narrow it down to five—all you have to do is look at all the icons I have to realize that. So I’ll come back to this later.

Cracked.com’s Back to the Future Timeline. Funny.

Apparently, Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern has been cast—and it’s Ryan Reynolds. I probably would have posted it sooner, but the news was buried beneath a few tons of Torchwood reviews.

And a couple fanfic recs—spoilers for Children of Earth are located in both. First, from [livejournal.com profile] ask_aboutcoffee is a funny RPG post that’s basically Ianto’s reaction to the episodes. There are a ton of comments. The other is the Doctor’s voicemail, detailing the reasons he couldn’t help, written by [livejournal.com profile] catsfiction.

How Back to the Future Almost Nuked The Fridge. An interesting article on how the movie almost went. And it was also almost titled Spaceman From Pluto. If anyone has a problem with embedded videos, there’s one there.

For those that have On Demand, they have Ghostbusters on it. It’s the unchanged version, meaning Ray doesn’t call anyone Wally Wick. Oh, also? Looks like they’ve fixed a couple things with the special effects. When Louis Tully’s eyes glow--in the tv version, it looks rather faded, and pitiful. The On Demand version? You can see it’s a bright red glow.

In other news, last night I dreamed that Illyana Rasputin turned out to be Immortal. Joe Dawson was her Watcher. She annoyed him by cheating at the Game--instead of just using a regular sword, she used a spell to freeze someone, and sent them to Limbo, or used her Soulsword. She got the Quickening that way, after demons decapitated them. Duncan thought it was cheating. Amanda was amused, and wanted to try magic sometime, to his everlasting horror. Strange crossover--interesting, but strange.

No matter what happens with the third Ghostbusters movie, it looks like there’s not much of a chance for Sigourney Weaver to be involved in it.

For those that haven’t seen the latest Torchwood: Children of Earth trailer, you can watch it here.

I have to recommend a fanfic I just stumbled across. It’s a Castle/Highlander crossover, starring Methos and Castle. Hysterical, as Castle wants Methos to let him kill him in various ways, so he can write another novel. The title is Orange You Glad We’re Friends, by [personal profile] strangevisitor7. You can read it here.

A couple of fake movie trailers found via Io9: John Carpenter’s Alf, Cabbage Patch Dolls of Death, from Cronenberg, and a lot of other 80’s cartoons made into monsters. I’ve seen the evil Cabbage Patch Dolls idea before—on Robot Chicken, I believe.

I was reading through Retrojunk yesterday, and came across a mention of a show that aired one Halloween a long time ago, called The Halloween That Almost Wasn’t. It’s also been called The Night Dracula Saved The World. Stars Judd Hirsch (from Taxi) as a disco dancing Dracula. A quick search on Youtube later, I’ve found whole thing. You can watch it under the original title (parts 1-3 are on that page) here, or the altered title (nothing else was changed) here.

In other news, yesterday was the hottest day of the year, as the temperature hit 105 degrees Fahrenheit. And the make-up melted off the anchorwoman’s face as everyone watched. Today? Today, we’re beating that record, as it’s due to hit 115 degrees any minute now. I have plenty of iced tea with me, and two fans in here.

Here’s an advance script review for the remake of Highlander. Thanks to [personal profile] pat_t for pointing it out. Funny thing is, as I post this I’m watching the end of the first movie—it’s airing on AMC.

From Io9: Most Awesomely Overcomplicated Time Travel Plot Of All Time—from Where In the World Is Carmen Sandiego. The first comment links to Rockapella singing the theme song. When I was in middle school, I used to play Carmen Sandiego games on the computer. I watched the game show, but I don’t think I ever watched more than one episode of the cartoon.

Jeffrey Bell has signed on to help with the V remake.

In other news, a Torchwood convention (Torchsong, which I hadn’t heard of before) almost seems cursed. John Barrowman tore ligaments in his left ankle, and was unable to attend—but he’ll apparently conduct a question and answer and cabaret via SkyChat. Now, I’m hearing (it’s in the comments) that Tom Price (Andy, from Torchwood) was hit by a car as he left his hotel—he has a broken arm. Here’s hoping they both get better soon! Peter Wingfield will be attending, so let's hope that everyone that’s left manages to stay safe.

Just English. Although, for a day in the summer between 7th and 8th grade, I was apparently fluent in French. In 7th grade, I took a French class that lasted 6 weeks. School ended for the summer, and we got a wrong number calling from Quebec, I think it was. The person calling only spoke French. Mom only spoke English.

I was called in to speak with her for about 10 minutes, telling her in French what Mom wanted her to know, and translating back into English for Mom. From what the lady said, my French (for that one day--I was never able to do it again, and all the French I knew has faded over time) was flawless.

It was simply weird.

And now, a few fannish items.

Great Scenes That Are In Trailers, But Not In Movies. The one that immediately came to mind (and which someone mentioned in the comments over there) for me was the one for Highlander: Endgame, where it made Kell seem to have supernatural powers. If you want to see it, and don’t feel like searching the comments there, you can find it here.

How Pushing Daisies ends—and how it was supposed to end. Spoilers are in there somewhere.

Apparently, X-Men Origins: Wolverine has come under fire—because of Wolverine smoking. The American Medical Association Alliance wants movies that feature smoking to get an R rating, and they list Wolverine as their main example.
